Hi Guys,

Need some Suggestion.

(1) What advantage would an MS degree (in US) add (assume it is in CSE), for someone who is in IT for 6+ years (Development).?

(2) Also what are the possibilities of getting a job there after completing the MS degree.? I made some enquiries and hear that the option of landing in a job is via consultancies there who would "handle" your "updated resume" and set up interviews. Because companies rarely directly come forward with offering H1B sponsorship? Is it true/fact/open secret? Can someone familiar with this first hand or underwent a job interview shed some light on it?

I would have to make some decisions in the coming months on if i should make an attempt for MS but if the point 2 is reality, then i'm not so sure on taking the risk.

Thanks in advance..

I'm not that experienced to give any suggestion to you. But I think if you are good at what you do and work hard, you can find a job there without help of consultancies. Depending on them is absolutely not recommended from what I heard. They give training to you and join you as contractor in some companies with fake exp. For that you have to give 10-20% of your salary to them. Tax is 30% which will leave you with little money and no legitimate experience.

Lot of ppl do MS at 26-28 age in US, so I guess it would be beneficial for your profile also. Just choose which courses you want to do carefully in MS, take some trending courses which appeal to companies.

The whole application process is fking annoying. gre & toefl exams, recommendation letters, personal essay, unis selection, and finally applying to unis. So if you haven't started it already you should do it immediately.

All the best. :)

Thank you!!..

Yes i too am not interested in the consultancy route. I'm quite happy in the current company anyways. I just thought there might be some consultancies who can leverage my existing experience + MS degree to find jobs once i am done. In which case , i am fine with minor share depending upon the total salary. But if they tell to let go of all the legitimate exp here, then i will definitely not go in that route.

So i guess i will start with GRE/TOEFL, and depending on the scores+probably univ i would land into+course + campus interview info^2, i will need to take a call. :|

Thank again.

Semi decent, you got to do your homework and be passionate about it (so do everything, learn in your free time). Faculty is a good mix, most are helpful, others not so much.

But if you really want to do Animation and are ready to work for the same, go ahead.
