So whats the status in geohotz's trial?? I really want sony to win this one. Put his a*s in jail with a massive debt. Then let us see how our stud nerd makes a real 'jailbreak' .

i won't quite agree, technically he is not pirating games or any other copyrighted stuff

it is just plain good development skills that he has, he should not be put in jail, rather should be given a job to take care of the security of PS4

i guess this is his motive as well

it is like the scientist who discovered fission and fusion should have been hanged cause that resulted in Atom-bombs

this the exact opposite of scientific evolution

As a Science student i sincerely believe that everything will have a good or bad use, the usage will depend upon individual :)

Correct, no one is pirating using his JB on 3.55, his is the only CFW out of three that doesn't let you run backup managers.

yea I know he hates piracy,

I am just sad by the turn of event,

homebrew is great but piracy nay

guess I should finally sleep now (been straight 20 hrs),

I am messing up everywhere

Yeah they're just above Palm but imho WP7 needs, like most OSes, time to mature. But I do find it funny that there's no copy-paste function for phones released in 2010-2011 as is the case with WP7.

Corret. And they acknowledge it themselves. In their interview at D last month, they were asked the numbers and whether they would be able to take over iPhone/android etc. I don't remember the exact reply verbatim but the essence was that they think it would take at least 2-3 years before they can be a real challenger. They are working furiously on adding in new stuff and I'd say it would be very amateurish to write them off based on their sales numbers of now. They know what they are getting into. It's not a pre-iPhone market where a semi-decent iPhone was able to wow everyone around, it's much harder to prove themselves right now and they are taking the slow but steady approach.

Actually Microsoft are playing it pretty cool on this front. It didn't go down like people mentioned here, I think (not sure exactly) ChevronWP7 team (the first people to jailbreak/unlock) the Windows Phone 7 platform got one of these.

So GeoHot posted that he is going out to buy a WP7 to which the WP7 manager responded that we will give you one for free.

This entire friendly attitude is much more then a PR stunt. Everyone knows how an platform flourishes when its opened up. Big manufacturers have their own reasons to keep it closed (reliability, marketplace etc.) But embracing jailbreaking and letting people go at your device and good things happening from it is something I don't recall anyone doing. And hopefully this is more then a PR stunt.

In the meantime my Omnia 7 is waiting for its first OTA update. :threatenlumber:

MS knows that since the US made iPhone jailbreaking legal, they wouldn't get far by fighting it. So this is just a PR stunt to make them look like they support these guys. Plus, they have nothing to lose coz I'm guessing they're dead last in the smartphone space. Or have they climbed above Palm :giggle:

Becuase Hundred Proof has two meanings. Both kinda cool.

It was either this or SpuriousSam. :P

I completely agree, its very stupid in-fact embarrassing that copy-paste isn't there on the WP7. The first OTA update (due anytime now) should fix this and a lot of other little niggling issues as-well.
