Big Boss
Do any of the operators provide data only plans? This is what is written in IVG article: The 3G version will not be locked to a particular service provider. Not sure how it will work out.
harrydeo
By that logic 3ds owners getting Vita should mean its horrible for gaming (which is not the case). If you are not tight on the budget its worth getting both the systems. One thing for sure, touch based devices are really for stupid games only, real games need controls. So none of the real gamers would go for a touch only devices for gaming. As for the casual gamers well, even the original PSP was not aimed at them. harrydeo
@novilin Dude, i think you should wait till its price drop...let it launch, lets see how it runs in the market.. Atleast, the price drop will occur pretty quickly in US n EU...can't say that about india...Probably a timeline of 6 months... Vita isn't doing well cause its overpriced, proprietary mem cards, and no good launch titles...give it some time it'll do well... I also see you have a 3ds..so stick to it for now..I dunno if anything can downloaded off the e-shop from india cause i don't own a 3ds as of yet..if its possible they are some pretty retro titles on it which can keep you occupied. You know, after waiting for a 3ds for a yr i would be finally be picking it up in few days...the same with Vita, probably Christmas or Q1 2013 (i.e., if the world doesn't end ) As your confusion between a smartphone and a gaming handheld...its upto you to decide what you really want...If you want good smartphone with good casual gaming capabilities...go for an iphone if u r apple lover or Galaxy SII if u like android...i know its expensive than Vita, but its worth... Anyways, good luck with your purchase In india it is overpriced. But I think it has a fare price in US, USD 250. USD 250 for an unlocked gaming console is cheap. Also, Sony is not Nintendo they dont bend that easily, remember how much time did it take for PS3 to take a price drop. I would definitely appeal to Sony India to keep price fair in India. In US the price diffrence is 50 USD between the PS3 and Vita they should do the Same in India as well and that would be roughly around 15k (for wifi atleast), so people are at least paying less than the PS3. achilles
@ Helios, that could be for AT&T only, iPhone is raping that network hoarse. But what of the SIM, does it come with the console like the iPad 3G or you have to buy on your own?

avkash
Yes they are. The restriction is built in the system. Though with wi-fi hotspot there is not much to worry. Sent using Tapatalk
achilles
All the units I saw on sale in HK and Singapore required you to buy your own SIM. I think data restrictions are worldwide. Well that's another fail then. I don't think any of the Indian service providers provide data only plans. Edit and buying a new connection is another headache. Jigsaw
also while tethering is a good suggestion, the battery on both the galaxy phones is horrible and drains even faster while tethering, not to mention that the fact that ziggy is still going for a vita despite having an iPad 2, leaves me to the conclusion that the iPad 2 is horrible for gaming and that I should just get a Vita Buying a 3G Vita is as bad as going first-day-first-show to an abhishek bacchan movie. No one should be put through that. I haven't used a vita yet but it doesnt take a genius to figure out tethering is a wayy more sensible idea than plonking big money for a 3G vita , then the monthly commitment of a 3G connection. About the iPad 2, it's the most fun I've had gaming on something that's not a console/pc. And I own an S2, iPhone 4 and an iPod Touch 4. The iPad 2 is IMHO a very capable gaming device so hope that clears out the misconception in your mind about it's gaming capabilities. Jiggy bought Ipad 2 so that he can watch rebecca black on his way to work, game shem ka time khaan That girl is damn hot not my fault if she's not 18+

Thumbs up... I sold my PS3 + games to be able to afford an iPad 2 almost 6 months ago, and have never looked back. That said, it still doesn't have the ability to put out solid full-length games yet (with the exception of ports). The time and money spent into developing an appstore app just doesn't add up to the type of market that exists for iOS gaming - we've been spoiled to think that a game over 9.99 on the AppStore is expensive, and selling games on the platform for that cheap for Devs just wouldn't cover their costs I assume. I'm debating over getting a Vita myself and if I do end up taking the plunge, it will be the WiFi model only. Will just use my 4S to create a WiFi hotspot and game on

KiranB28
well then 32gb ipad 2 wifi it is then, you SONY, you dont get my money for overpricing your sh*t but in honesty ill go to croma malad and compare both the iPad and the Vita side by side before buying, since I have seen my friends iPad, its the most likely winner Please don't... there is no comparing the two at all. One device is geared towards the type of person looking for a full gaming experience on-the-go, with ZERO compromise on visuals, sound and most importantly, game length. The other device, in terms of gaming is geared towards a person who thoroughly enjoys gaming but: a. doesn't necessarily have the time to sit for more than an hour or two per gaming session b. doesn't mind compromising on graphical quality (a bit) and game length c. is fine having a higher quantity of shorter, well-developed games to play vs a limited amount of lengthier, highly polished games to play There are some extremely fine and worthwhile games on the AppStore - unfortunately, most of the ORIGINAL games won't give you hours and hours of play in a story-mode or RPG-like fashion. I've spent about 20 hours on Battleheart, 10 hours on Infinity Blade 2 and countless more on Jetpack Joyride, Fruit Ninja, Dungeon Raid, Muffin Knight and several others. The experience is simply different. The beauty of the iOS is the number of ports which have been appearing in the past couple of years... A Bard's Tale, Chrono Trigger, FF1, 2, 3, Tactics, Mega Man X, Street Fighter II and so many others succeed in providing a more in-depth gaming experience to those looking for one. All in all, I am downright confused over whether I want the Vita or not. No, I don't need it at all. But it would allow me to revisit my PS3 gaming days of how enjoyable games like RDR, UC, KZ, and etc were. 70% leaning towards getting the WiFi only model... but that 30% is a slap on the face which discourages me from giving my hard earned money to Sony, who expects its consumers to pay 2,800 for a quality game + spending on an extra memory card. I would have hoped the latter was incorporated in a better way but... I guess not.
Big Boss
Comparing ipad to PS Vita or even PSP is plain ignorant. If you just want to pass time by playing some games, get ipad. If you want to play great titles, get a handheld. It all comes to kind of games you like. A normal casual gamer who knows nothing about games will be more than satisfied with Smartphones and tablets for gaming. But for someone who knows gaming, he would miss on Mario, RE titles if he chooses ipad over 3DS and miss UC, LBP, KZ etc titles if he chooses ipad over Vita. I bought PSP because of the titles it had at that time, the fact that I could play games like God of War, WWE, Burnout, GTA, AC etc sold the device to me. I could care less about gameloft HD games and few others, no matter how good they are, they are just not good enough compared to titles we gamers play on consoles.
