Hi,

I got a linksys wireless G router today, trying to configure it with my PC. I've bsnl bb connection withs static ip. i.e., i need to enter ip manually in my network settings.

Now while configuring the router, i run the http://192.168.1.1 on the web browser, and type in the password and come to the setup page. Here i enter all my isp provided information including dns server address etc. Then I enable dhcp and select dhcp address range and give a local ip to my router. When I click on 'save settings' option, it gives me an error saying 'WAN domain is same as LAN domain' ! My router is not able to connect to internet :D !

can someone pls advice me on what am I doing wrong or if u can give me a step by step process to configure a router for use with x360 and pc, I will be grateful. I'm googling as well, but pls....help me guys !

Really appreciate your speedy response !

Thanks in advance !

Networked devices usually default to IPs in the range 192.169.0.xxx or 192.160.1.xxx

Since BSNL uses the same IP range for its service, your router is getting conflicted between the WAN IP (for BSNL) and its default LAN IP (internal LAN). Manually specifying an internal LAN IP thats distinct from the WAN IP will prevent the conflict.

Note: All internal devices that hook up to the router (like your PC and console) will now get IPS in the range 193.160.9.xxx.
