SHUT. . UPPP
hi all. Can anyone guide me how to connect my ps3 using 3g stick? Actually i got tata docomo and i connected my ps3 online using docomo via my pc. But its not working fine as i think pc is not letting ps3 use full bandwidth and consuming it majorly itself even if i m not surfing net or avoiding any download. So is there any thing which allows me to connect my ps3 direct using 3g? Anyone doing it already can guide. Thanx.
LagWarriorZergey
Misleading post... U can't directly connect using the 3g usb.. as it requires installation of softwares and all
Big Boss
AFAIK, you need to connect PC using the 3G device, and then share that connection wirelessly using a router with PS3. If you have windows 7, it can be used as a wireless hot spot, and router is not needed. I almost installed Windows 7 for my Reliance Wired connection which requires a login page in web browser, but it directly worked on my PS3. But for 3G/USB modem, you need internet sharing. LaughingMan777
plus, wireless net sucks for multiplayer. u'll be frustru all the time. try to get wired net connection (and not that Tata Broadband pseudo-wired thingy where they run a wire to a wireless router) if u r serious about MP. Zeehunter
Wireless sucks fr mp Even if u have good speed there r frequent disconnections
Paapi
Wireless sucks fr mp Even if u have good speed there r frequent disconnections This is 100% correct. Expect lag and packet loss with wireless. even if router is near to your system, still you can get huge packet loss and disconnection. I had the same issue while playing UC2 online. So I have to make it a wired connection and since then it is working fine. And of course the net speed doesnt matter in this case.
indusporus
It's not all that bad actually. Not atleast with my (bsnl 3g+xperia x10+easy tether/ barnacle wifi) -->windows 7 internet sharing-->ethernet cable to ps3. I used to have tata photon but the speed of photon suck. With bsnl the connection is mostly reliable only problem is that the mobile runs out of charging quite quickly. I think it all depends on Ping. Check the ping from speedtest.net. For me it's some times around 300ms and still I face no problems in playing BFBC2 online. To share the internet connection, just open internet sharing, click on your internet account-->properties-->sharing-->using LAN. Use google DNS in your ps3 settings and you might have to play with IP settings like retrieving it automatically or use the specific IP. I use the automatic option and it works fine. Shantz
you can also buy a router which can use these 3g devices and then connect your PS3 to them wired/wireless. Plenty of them are available on ebay. You can even use one of the many routers with USB ports and flash them with custom firmware and use the 3g dongle with them. Big Boss
u saying that you dont have to login from reliance broadband page in case one plugs the ethernet wire in to the ps3 Sorry about the bump, but I didn't notice this query before. Yes I have to login in the browser, and once I do that, I can use internet on my PS3 just fine. I thought I will not be use it on PS3 because of the login page, as I didn't realize I can use browser first.
Man In The Box
I got a Telecom Mobile Broadband here in Auckland and it worked fine for the first 2 days. However, lately it has started to suck. I'm getting an upload speed of 0.02 MBPS and therefore I cannot play online at all. Has anyone else faced this issue? I have tried complaining and all they tell me is that you need to try connecting your USB stick to another laptop I'm getting good download speeds though (2-3 MBPS) and a ping <

wazza
A simple solution does exists google ccproxy, install the free version, setup a socks v5 proxy on your home pc, and conncet it to the internet via 3g data card, now connect the pc and ps3 to the same router, but dont connect the router to the internet, open the router page, and see the pc local ip, and open ps3 network settings and use proxy as : 'pc lan ip:808" (808 is the default port the ccproxy chooses)... and you are good to go.. if any problem occurs,i can hel you out
avkash
ya, but would that not mean that i need to keep the PC as well as the router ON, not really cool is it i would go with what Shantz said, the least hassle free, get a stick router, simple and done. will work with ipod, and ipad as well, hassle free.
