Here is a bizzare tip i surfed:

With the PS3 power switch in the off position, turn power switch back on while holding down Eject button. This mode allows you to clean out the dust inside the PS3. It works for Models CECHG and higher.

Dont know if it really works, but really wished we had a vaccum cleaner inside our PS3.

^^ apparently the fan inside blows out all of the dust that's inside.

You can't be serious?? This actually works?

Edit: Found this youtube video:

which seems to suggest that it's a "fan test." My best guess is that it puts the fan at maximum speed, and if you couple that with a vacuum cleaner at the vents, then possibly you can suck some dust out. Though whether or not this is bad for the system remains to be seen. (Some people suggest this damages the system over time. And as it is not a feature advertised by Sony for the end-user, it's probably not recommended).

Hi,

I would like to know how u people Maintain ur PS3.

Cleaning.

1. What materials do u use?

2. How do u clean the external surface?

3. How do u clean the Vents??

4. How do u Clean the Inner area?

5. Do u cover ur PS3 When not in use? After how much time do u cover it after playin it.?

6. How to avoid Scratches.

Answers to these question may help me and other GI members.

This is what i do to take care of the ps3 from dust.

When i see dust getting accumulated on the ps3,i remove all the wires.I keep the ps3 on a table. Then take a slightly wet cloth.I then put a few drops of CLEANEX made by MAJI industries wipe it once on the ps3 completely top to bottom,on the sides everywhere. Then i take a dry cloth and wipe it off gently. Now i have got a remarkable sparkling shine on my ps3.This is what i have been doing.Dont get scared of doing this. Its safe to do.My friends in the usa actually use Mr muscle, but thats no where close to the power of cleanex by MAJI industries.ITs brilliant guys.EVery 3weeks i do this!!
