Karooo
So is this worth buying? Doesn't really seem that... good. *Attacks someone with a dildo* Is that supposed to be 'fun', guys?
Big Boss
I played the first level on PC. If the rest of the game is anything like it, then its worth it. It was one of the most fun starts to a game i ever played.

spindoctor
How are the controls on pc? they seem fine so far. played a few missions. still in the tutorial stage i guess, because they're basically teaching game mechanics. the mission design is awesome at times. game looks dated as hell though. like a 5 year old game would... probably the worst looking open world in quite some time. Big Boss
game looks dated as hell though. like a 5 year old game would... probably the worst looking open world in quite some time. Yeah, but still its much better than Saints Row 2, which was slightly better looking than San Andreas. Also, it runs like crap, almost same as SR2 on my laptop, getting 10-15 fps on lowest settings irrespective of resolution on my laptop (in outdoor areas only, indoors its 30+ fps). GTA 4 runs at high settings at 20-30 fps at 1366x768. Not saying its a bad port, ok maybe it is, but my laptop is very old.
MarketTantrik
The game runs fine on my rig both indoors and outdoors. Its only when I'm speeding through the city in a vehicle that i notice some minor stuttering when making quick turns. I think I need a hard drive speed upgrade. spindoctor
the game has glitches. had one in the 3rd mission itself. then one more later. both times were when i accidentally did something the game didn't expect me to. wasn't even obscure... these kinds of things should have been caught in testing. nash was telling me he ran into lots of issues too. and when something goes wrong, you have to repeat the entire mission. the game has mid mission checkpoints, but saves only count at the beginning of a mission. how can developers get such basic things wrong in a 2011 game? MarketTantrik
^^ I am 13% through the SP campaign and havent faced any such glitches. On the other hand, I faced a game stopping glitch in BF3's SP campaign.
Big Boss
how can developers get such basic things wrong in a 2011 game? Its by Violition, they aren't a AAA game developer. Skyrim has even major bugs. the game has mid mission checkpoints, but saves only count at the beginning of a mission Well I cant think of any open world game that saves mid mission. You have check points to respawn, but they are not counted as saves. Infamous 2, RDR, GTA EFLC etc all have mid mission checkpoints, but they are not save games. spindoctor
^^ I am 13% through the SP campaign and havent faced any such glitches. here are the glitches that happened - that mission where you have the uav firing cod style predator missiles down on enemy vehicles to protect your helicopters. i think i accidentally clipped one of the choppers. it was still flying and patrolling though. but the mission never advanced to the point where i get into the chopper and i had to deal with infinitely respawning enemy vehicles until i restarted. next, that activity where you're in a chopper with a rocket launcher protecting a car on the ground. near the end of that mission, you go on a building and take up a sniper position while hanging off the roof. all that is automated. when my chopper reached the roof, i pressed E to get out of the chopper assuming that i had to do it manually. game glitched out there again and i had to repeat the whole thing. Almost all sandbox games with mid-mission checkpoints revert back to hard saves if you quit during a mission. Very few of them let you continue from where you left off (in fact I can't even think of any at the moment). Anyway, getting the game today... Not sure. BTW I wonder why dont open world games have hard saves mid missions? Edited November 21, 2011 by ambar_hitman

spindoctor
Its by Violition, they aren't a AAA game developer. Skyrim has even major bugs. skyrim is also about a hundred times more complex, not to mention a hundred times better. 'volition isn't a AAA developer' is no excuse for poor design. Well I cant think of any open world game that saves mid mission. You have check points to respawn, but they are not counted as saves. Infamous 2, RDR, GTA EFLC etc all have mid mission checkpoints, but they are not save games. so because other games also have bad design, it's okay for this one? and how conveniently you forget about skyrim in your list . there's an open world game that lets you save anywhere. ideally, that's how it should be but if you must implement checkpoints, at least let game state be saved at checkpoints. and hey, this wouldn't even be such a big problem if the player didn't have to keep repeating missions because of glitches that you couldn't test out.
