Collector edition...

It is only Available in UK and through UBIshop.com.

'I say Ginger, wouldn't it be splendid if the UK were to get a spiffing collectable edition of IL-2 STURMOVIK: Cliffs of Dover?'; 'Why yes Biggles'; 'Good news, it is'; 'Whizzo!'

Whizzo indeed, as the Collectors box contains a 150-page ring bound manual, a cloth map harking back to bonus videogame contents of yesteryear and a copy of the original flight instructions given to Spitfire pilots during The Battle of Britain.

So far, this edition has only been confirmed for the UK and no price has been announced. IL-2 STURMOVIK: Cliffs of Dover is due for PC release on 25 March in the UK (22 March in the US.)

Despite being published by Ubisoft, fans of hilariously restrictive and sometimes game-breaking DRM, the word on DRM for this game is simply "Internet connection required to activate game."

The Windows PC version of IL-2 STURMOVIK™: Cliffs of Dover.

A cloth pilot escape map showing The Battle of Britain strategic locations.

A replica of the Pilot’s Notes on the Spitfire I Aeroplane, provided to RAF pilots during The Battle of Britain and reprinted from the RAF Museum original document.

An in-depth 150-page ring binder pilot instructions.

Im not sure about Cliffs of Dover, but IL-2 works out as a pretty good Arcade flight game if you enable the arcade controls. The simulator mode is an entirely different beast though and Im sure most players would struggle to stay even airborne when they start out for the first time.

y u no PS3

cliffs of dover...

Brids of prey was out on the consoles and it probably didn't sell too well. But its relatively new and you could try it out if you are interested in the series.

i tried it and i really had a tough time getting off the ground but then when i did and i could get up and running it was fun, though i tried a lot of tutorials and a couple of them were pretty tough so left it, and the menu was archaic so it did not help either.

Don't worry, hes just a noob. :P

And the menu wasn't archaic, more like WW2 style. At least it was good enough for a niche title, look at games like Hearts of Iron if you really want to see bad menus and terrible grammar.

it was pretty unhelpful for me, especially when in the free-fly mode or whatever it was called and you had to select the planes and all was terrible, maybe it was ebcuase i palyed the game a lot later and came back to it just after oblivion IIRC, during one of the take off missions i remember i had to go into the controls multiple times to remember what was for which, and then understand what each thingy did, was too much stuff for me to learn at one time.

but then i quit just as i was getting the hang of it, maybe i'll return to it or any previous game once again.

the developers have had to implement an epilepsy filter in the game that absolutely murders performance.

this is the first game i've ever heard of where devs actually had to do something like this. all other games come with the standard warning screen at the start and that's it. makes me wonder what it was about this game that forced them to take such drastic measures so late into development and mere days before release.
