Aalaap
I've read all those HDD swapping things all over the place - but I want to know if anyone has (successfully) attempted upgrading the PS3 HDD to something significant. I've been downloading demos like crazy (cuz i dont have any money to buy games, eh eh eh), so I've run out of the 60 gigs pretty fast. I was thinking of putting in a 120 or 160 gig drive instead. What do you guys have to say about that?

Aalaap
hmm.. more words of encouratement .. sounds good This makes it seem a lot easier too: http://www.gamepro.com/sony/ps3/games/features/127009.shtml One question I couldnt find the answer to online though ... is it possible to copy all my existing demos (~40GB) onto the new hard drive? I don't want to keep swapping HDDs just to play differnet demos, heh..
pixeljunkie
if you do decide to go ahead and upgrade, heat the screws with a soldering iron 1st this shld help loosening them and make sure you use a philps flathead/mini screwdrivers

When i backed up my ps3 hdd i only had <30gb of stuff and i had to format my external hdd as FAT32 (as the space limitations for FAT32 partitions are usually around 31-32 gb) but it did back up all my games saves, demos, trailers and music i had. Don't know if you can back up on separate fat32 partitions at once though.

Then replace the HDD and restore your stuff back from that external HDD. And voila. Once again, all these are piece of cake for average joe like you and me. Does anyone know how much a 250gig SATA 2.5" drive costs nowadays?
MightySkate
@ HP: I would be the first one to buy when 10k rpm 2.5" drives arrive but unfortunately it's not available at the moment. @Alaap: Check the link below. It's a shop based here in Bang and will give you an idea of the price range you can expect. http://computerwarehousepricelist.com/down...e=Pricelist.xls
