According to leaked details on the web, the Sony PS3 console will soon be getting Chrome as its official Internet browser. The news first appeared on Internet gaming forum NeoGAF, with a member reporting some interesting discoveries he made on the PS3’s online webkit source. Specifically, a series of tests relating to Chrome are being conducted by Sony Principal Software Engineer Geoff Levand. "I'm going through ps3-webkit-support.diff because I'm bored. Looks like we're actually getting Chrome, since Geoff's added a couple of files for ChromeClientPOSIX,” explains NeoGAF member androvsky. “There's a lot of functions that aren't implemented, but they're mainly ones that involve windowing that you wouldn't expect to be supported on the PS3. …It's a huge freaking project, and the diff[erences] only covers what needed to be changed so it works on the PS3. [so] I think we can expect good things in the future.” A browser deal between Google and PlayStation has been rumoured since 2009, when Sony’s personal computer range came preinstalled with Chrome. If true, the news is sure to be welcomed by PS3 owners, who have long lamented the primitive nature of their console’s browser. "I'll be so happy if we get a new browser. The current one is garbage," commented one NeoGAF user. At the time of writing, Google has refused to confirm or deny the rumour. I hope it's true.....!!!!!! Before I ever bought a Laptop, I bought the PS3........ Heck, I even became a member of GI from my PS3........ So, I had to get used to it......... The keyboard part is fine, but the browser crashes like anything....... It's a very weak browser if you ask me..... Totally out-dated compared to the high-end websites these days..........
