sarthak
Hi, My name is Sarthak, i have been an old member but not really much of a poster. I Live in Delhi. The problem i am facing is that my PS3 Blu-Ray drive stopped working intermittently last week. I called up Croma's Extended Warranty Helpline to get all the details as to how to proceed with my warranty claim. They gave me a Service Center in Noida which i can visit to proceed with my problem. Now comes the bundle of problems i have been facing 1) Firstly, Both the Service Center & the Extended Warranty Helpline had a different way of going with the claim. The Difference being that the Service Center wanted me to pay for my repairs initially, albeit they would return my money once the whole claim is done and the Extended Warranty Helpline told me not to pay. 2) Then after 5 days again i called up the Extended Warranty Helpline to recheck about the process and they outright said not to pay. I got a call back in a few hours changing their statement that the new process requires the customer to pay first. 3) Well it has been 9 days and i still do not have an amount value that i have to pay to get a new PS3 or a proper way as to how the warranty claim should go as per the Extended Croma Warranty. Any Suggestions would be very helpful. The Service Center in question is J.P.Electronics, Noida & the PS3 was bought from Croma, Pacific Mall with 2 Yrs Extended Warranty Service. The PS3 was bought in Nov 08' so the warranty is still there Thanks in advance,

TheHitman
tried escalating it with the higher ups in Croma?
HundredProofSam
As far as I know, what Croma calls extended warranty is actually an insurance policy they take out against the PS3. So when you take it back to them, they have to claim insurance for it and then give you the PS3. I think I read another member post his experience with the whole process it was all quite shady. I guess for now the best you can do is wait for them to tell you how much you have to pay. Very unprofessional of them to change their policy and make you pay for something that's under warranty even if they're promising to reimburse you. sarthak
@TheHitman - Thats the eventual step if nothing else works out, thanks for the reply. @Sam - Ya thats what i tried clarifying with them when i was buying it, whether it was a warranty or just an insurance. They still do not have a clear answer to this. Yup it is quite shady with lots of misinformation and retracting statements in minutes of giving them thus adding more fuel to fire whether ill even be getting a new set or anything will even progress quickly. Ya i don't mind paying as long as they are willing to give it to me in writing they will return my money, which they are not willing to give. Raising more doubt on an already weird warranty claim. They gave me a ballpark figure of 13G.
DinJo
I guess last time a member claimed for warranty from Sony by showing Croma warranty and later on Croma was warned by Sony and i guess nowadays they dont provide extended warranty after that
sarthak
@Dinjo - Well that makes no sense, i was sold an extended warranty for two years , a warranty which they have to honor irrespective of whatever their relationships be with the manufacturer. To be very frank, Sony has absolutely nothing to do with this warranty its Cromas own personal warranty which they issued to me and i am trying to get them to fully honor it. Very much appreciate the reply.

sarthak
@ LoStkilleRnik - thanks for the reply, nice to know that they honor their warranty. Can you tell me what steps you followed as in you got the warranty honored from the Croma you bought the unit from or whether you had to call up their extended warranty helpline. @Avkash - hope you do not need it mate!! @boltonfan - well its already been 15 days for me still no go, only upshot i have the unit with me. They had to give me a call on Monday , which they haven't given till now. @Jigsaw - Having the necessary steps to be taken given by someone who got their replacement done seamlessly will help a lot to the community. Thanks for all the replies.
speedy
well friends, i got the infamous ylod prob, called croma etxnd warranty helpline no. they asked me to bring the machine to their chembur centre. upon doing so they gave me receipt for the same & asked for seven days for replacement. no call from me nor a single Q from them. on the exact seventh day a call from them to come & pick up the machine. as sidhu say's " the deal was as smooth as silk" i hope it helps
sarthak
@LoStkilleRnik - Thanks for the Post man, Mine is not going as silk. Finally after passing of so many days, i decided to call up Mumbai and settle this, talked to the Managing Head of Extended Warranty Service and he reassured me twice that the policy of getting a DD made and then a check returned to the customer is the normal policy. He told me hell give me a DD amount on Monday i.e. today and expect a new unit in 15 days. The only high point of this talk was that he told me that the day i give my DD at that same point ill get a check of the same amount. I also enlightened him that people have got their PS3s replaced without paying any money. He replied saying that this is the new policy. I guess ill give him a call and tell him to cut the crap and get it done without the DD.
Big Boss
You in Pune? If yes then which Croma shop did you buy extended warranty from?
sarthak
@ambar_hitman - Ya Right now in Pune, Study Here but i bought the PS3 from Delhi Okay some bright news, was not able to speak to the Mumbai guy on my own today, he had already called up and given a DD amount. But it worked out like a charm, The DD was made and given and an instant check was issued by the Sony Service Center at the same time for the same time as promised by the Croma Rep. The service center said i should expect a new PS3 in 7 to 10 days. I'm Planning on writing Croma a Mail regarding their different policies in different cities regarding the same type of unit with the same warranty and the amount of running around people have to do compared to some people having a smoother time. Thanks for all the replies in this thread they have been really hopeful.
