Recently a friend of mine have traveled there and came back, I saw his pics.. Damn! Too good. Especially their White Sandy Beaches with crystal clear Blue Waters.. Much better than Phuket/Hawaii where I have been. Anybody been there, Info on Budget/Hotels etc. TBH, I have not planned yet but thinking of going there via Site if that place is really good as the Hollywood celebrities claim. Ne0 Posted February 3, 2014 Report Share Posted February 3, 2014 (edited) Had a nice 3 day trip to a nearby city (Busan) here in Korea....it was my first time driving on an expressway and it was an amazing experience. Before this, I always used to think that having driven in the traffic congested streets of Bangalore and the rowdy traffic on the highways in India, I would be auto prepared to drive anywhere in the world .... and boy was I wrong ! Driving here is totally different. Especially things like blind spot, switching lanes, maintaining constant distance between vehicles, paying attention to speed limits, avoiding tailgating etc., which are not even considered while driving back home , are some of the most important here (and in many western countries I think). Overall a good eye-opener for me .... it was good that I had another guy with me who was quite experienced in driving here who was constantly guiding me. My advise to anyone who's traveling abroad, and want to try driving , please get a fellow traveler who has sufficient experience, and not venture out on your own just because you have driven back in India.... driving in west (or 1st world countries ) seem easier, but its in fact more disciplined and you will need some time to get used to it ! I was in Bharatpur (not far from ladakh) when one among group of bikers got very ill.....we had to take him to Army camp as nearest hospital before it is only in keylong which is quite far. So try to make sure you know where the army camps are on the way to ladakh (they can be very helpful) we came to know Army shifted him to nearest hospital next day. Also always try to be in group and take proper medical supply and food. On our way back ...we got stuck because a truck had fallen right in middle of road and the crane was expected to come and move it. Till then whole road was block. we were stuck for many hours ...but we decided to leave our luggage in cab ...and cut the road through the hill and take another can for manali. so proper preparation is must. As for travel trips...I know of Gurdwara Pathar Sahib not far from ladakh about 25 kms...also not far from keylong there is a very beautiful monastery high in the hills....Kardang monastery .
