^ Its not that bad. Although the Asian airlines are much better like Singapore airlines. Probably the best service I've got ever.

N Please, i'm an economy man :P :P..Why waste money in first class. Although my frequent flier thing might help me in getting bumped to business if the flight's are overbooked. So hoping they r :D

Maybe not that bad, but the subtle stuff.. oh well.

Experienced a marked difference between first and economy - took two different class tickets on the forward and return legs on the trip to Egypt. Hence observed that. Yes, on emirates. I don't mean the facilities, just the way they respond and how quickly they get you what you ask for. Had to f**king ask for a glass of water 5 times when traveling economy with those clowns until this dude finally came while the plane was about to start its descent and he said "I'm sorry, I have to go sit down now because the plane's about to land" This was 30 minutes before landing mind you and I'd been asking for an hour before that. Was mighty pissed with them that day. Maybe it's just that the cabin crew on that flight were a*s-clowns.

I found that asking for Apple Juice seems far easier btw :fear: I just love Apple juice.

But Egyptair was nice. Still Jet and kingfisher way ahead in my book. Also recent experience with food on Dragonair was :samui: (first time I DIDN'T have the food after asking for it). Cathay pacific was very good though.

Yeah, we're usually the kind that saves on flight expenses by flying economy too unless we have some reward points or something that we can use to get an upgrade.

because of their air hostesses :naughty:

Hehe, kingfisher :majesty: in that department. This time while waiting to board for my flight to Hong Kong, I saw an Indian Airlines airhostess. I used to kid that they were hiring "aunties" in their 40s, but she was more grandma than aunty :roflroll: Oh man, the times are desperate.

But no, in general Jet and Kingfisher have better service. Plus as frequent flyers (Jet Platinum or whatever) we usually get lounge access and stuff. Was very useful at places like London Heathrow (feel sorry for all those poor buggers stuck there right now lol). Have a Jet Airways flight in Club Premier next month to Mumbai and then a trip to Lonavala for a short getaway too. Lets see how that plays out.

Nice thread, how did I miss it earlier.

So, the dubai visa fees have increased like hell. Burnt a frickin hole in my pocket. Good thing Emirates flight tickets are dead cheap right now.

Yup.. Realised it's cheaper to travel to Mumbai to Dubai than Mumbai to Delhi !!

How cheap r u guys getting emirates for ?

thats an over-hyped place, its cheaper for Australians in Bali and thus their fav, mostly for water sports, relaxation & spa.

Hi Megz

Within the USA, I'd definitely do San Fran - easily the prettiest city in the US, in my books, if you're going with the West Coast. Miami is a lot of fun, if you're after a party city. With the East Coast, definitely do NY and the New England region. I haven't been to Boston and its surrounds, but I do love the sense of history and gravitas I'm told the place exudes. It's also just a really fun college town.

DC is good if you're into your politics and museums. I could easily lose myself in just one of the museums for days on end.

Your itinerary would depend on the amount of time you have, but, I'd say, ideally a week and a half in New York, so you can experience the theatre/night life and restaurant scene properly and really just get a feel for the vibrance of the city, and maybe even sneak in a trip uptown. Whatever you do, do *not* go to Albany. It is the capital of New York state and is a hole!

From NY, I'd do 3-4 days in the New England area, driving around, then onto DC for 4-5days.

If you want to do a coast-to-coast, you could potentially try for a day or two in Chicago then do the Canyon and Vegas (which if you ask me, is skippable. I found it was sensory overload a-go-go) then on to San Fran for 2-3 days.

LA is largely skippable in my view.

My suggestion would be to focus on either of the East or West Coast and explore it thoroughly, keeping the rest for another trip. But, that's also because that's my preferred mode of travel. I find if you try to fit too many things in, you just end up not getting a real sense of any of it.

Within India, I'd recommend Kerala (which I just did, and had a breathtaking experience with). Let me know if you decide on this option, and I'll give you the details of a houseboat operator who was absolutely lovely and took care of us really, really well). Alternatively, my next option would be Leh/Ladakh or the North East. I was reading about a great little cafe in Nagaland which is great if you want to just chill and hear people jam. Sounded sensational!

The other option I'd shamelessly plug of course is Australia. If you decide on this option, drop me a line, and I'll talk you through a detailed itinerary.

^ Yup, I would like to go to Bali.. Always thought espacially eversince I read " Eat Pray Love" Good .. Noted

And any other place??

@ megz.

visit uttrakhand. superb place. Try to go to places other than the usual nanital, masoorie, ranikhet etc. visit indo tibet border for breathtaking views, apart from that Champawat, Chamoli, Kotdwara, yamunotri, gangorti (if they are open.. the way that is), religious spots like kedarnath, badrinath, golu devta temple, valley of flowers, bhawali.. etc.

there is also this awesomesauce (and not well known) place whose name i am forgetting right now, will ask mom... I distinctly remember it as the way to it is very difficult, lots of steep climbs and narrow paths but the end view is to die for. Lemme know if you are interested about Uttrakhand as a destination and i can give you more info about it, half of me belongs to that area.

11/10!

:samui:

keyo is a sell out >_>
