HK taxis give me nightmares. Extremely rude. Only accept cash. And their driving skills are same as Indians, only on more congested roads.

With Uber, you'll likely end up getting a lots of Teslas. Good or bad, depends on your perspective.

Agreed. Good thing the metro is amazing and offers brilliant connectivity.

Yess this is one negative i found. The waiter staff was also rude/cold in some restaurants. I read online and apparently it's just a culture thing there. Even the HK locals complain about it.

Sendai - if you plan on using the JR pass, or else Tohoku Shinkansen can get super pricey.

Tohoku region is very underrated. I spent my 3 week trip entirely in Tohoku and Hokkaido. There are barely any tourists this side.

hokkaido  and fukuoka are my next destinations in Japan

Do checkout the Michinoku coastal trial.

I hiked a small section, around  25 KM, on the Tanesashi coast. It was beautiful.

The whole trial is 1000 km long along the pacific coast and goes through many areas that were affected by 2011 tsunami.

Pelling is a must go town. While a lot of hotels have cropped up since I went last, it's still a small picturesque place - and you can get up seeing Mount K2 in front of your eyes every single morning. They run 2-3 day tours for sightseeing at nearby places (waterfalls, rocking bridge etc).

When you head to Gangtok, go via Namchi (Char Dham), Samdruptse Hill (angry Buddha), Timi Tea etc.

At Gangtok, you can enjoy the food, mountain wine, get a pass to visit Nathula pass, Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir etc. All of these are 1 day up and down.

If you're feeling adventurous, go to Lachung Lachen - it's pretty high, and you will need to trek a bit. Homestays and all - but worth it.

You can spend a couple of days for sightseeing around Gangtok.

Try going to Hanumantok at 4-5 am for seeing an amazing sunrise above Mount Everest.

Thanks, back from vacation the day before, visited Gangtok, lachen and lachung.

Out of the 5 days, ~2 days were spent in travel between towns due to the mountainous terrain and narrow roads. I found Sikkim to be awesome in general though, gorgeous vistas, cold weather (with snow in many places) and clean cities, felt like I was transported to a completely different part of the world.  Sometimes I couldn’t believe such a beautiful place was sitting right in our country while I was scouting for places abroad.  The hotels were quite affordable too.

Yup, among the NE states, Sikkim IMO is probably at the top.

Mad nervous, flight for Baku in 6 hours. Need to leave for the airport in 3, contemplating if I can even go.

Azerbaijan first, Georgia afterwards. Idk if things will calm down by our return, don't wanna be stuck somewhere.
