I have a PS3 Slim. Both r good consoles as i said before. Go get xbox as you like online stuff. But future of PS3 seems bright these days. If most of them have a 360, naturally you'll enjoy a 360 more and vice versa. As for the controller, if you've got even slightly long fingers, the DS3 sucks big time. I personally hate it. 360 controller over DS3 any day. wont say hate the ds3 as i have found Ds3 to be a good controller for certain type of games and xbox 360 controller to be good for certaint ype of games...but overall x360 controller is better...it fits in well and buttons on the top of the controller are better than Ds3's L2,R2 ...they kinda slip at times... I had an Xbox up until a few months back & I can vouch that the PS3 is much better in every way. The only issue I had was with adjusting to the controller but that got sorted within a couple of days. I played Halo in my friends XBOX sometime before and i was really not impressed And what is that different online experience in XBOX that is better than PS3 online experience (apart from the recent hack ) ..
