Need For Speed: The Run

Yeah, the game is fun but overall, it's such a terribly made game. Didn't expect this from Black Box. Regarding the 2 hour thingy, the 'Run Time' that shows is extremely misleading, as it will take you a while to beat the game, it's definitely not two hours.

Na, by all accounts the races are fun. It's just that theyre short, there's no story or plot to speak of, the QTE sequences are terrible, and there's no freeplay mode.

so how does this make it equal or better to hot pursuit? that was the point i was answering to.

apparently the pc version is locked at 30fps

LOL doesn't matter. I will make my own review :D

Not cancelling the pre-order at any cost. HP was good. if this is same / better then I'm in FTW :)

HP was developed by Criterion (the guys behind Burnout) while this is coming from Black Box whose last game was NFS Undercover.

EA has three different teams working on the NFS series right now. So HP being good has nothing to do with the quality of The Run.

EG Review: 5/10

The narrative element of the game turns out to be poor, too. Indeed, after a rather functional introduction to your character Jack and Christina Hendricks' voice-on-the-radio Sam, the writers seem to have lost interest completely. There are some awful quick-time events built around foot chases and mafia pursuits, but no plot development of any sort. The best you can expect is a few clichéd sentences introducing your opponents on the loading screens. "Beyond winning, Marcus' primary motivation is to take Jack out of the race... permanently," it is said rather ominously of one of them, although nobody ever explains why.

All of which is a shame. The Run may be the third Need for Speed in barely 12 months, but there was still the potential here to present a legitimate alternative to the games on the other side of the garage. Somewhere in all these ideas is a fast and furious cross-country sprint with a neat back-story, clever structure and great technology. For whatever reason, though, EA Black Box couldn't find it, and instead The Run is a fractured, painful slog and its short, sharp races do little justice to the concept

Money saved.

excerpt from gs review-

These extended quick-time events make up a small part of the game, which is good because they're not much fun. There are also a few sections of The Run where you need to worry more about avoiding gunfire from mafia cars and helicopters than racing effectively. These attempts to bring some Hollywood excitement to The Run backfire; it's just not enjoyable to constantly swerve to avoid the attacks of your mob pursuers.

Your total clocked, competitive time driving coast to coast will probably be a little more than two hours, though that doesn't factor in checkpoint resets and events you fail and need to redo.

I have a strange feeling that says I should try this game, or my life would be incomplete :P

Even HP was locked at 30fps on PC. Wasn't it?
