playstation Posted May 14, 2011 Report Share Posted May 14, 2011 Osama bin Laden: How top secret 'Grey Fox' unit tracked down and killed al-Qaeda kingpin AN elite US Special Forces kill squad dubbed Grey Fox have been deployed throughout Asia and the Middle East to track down and "eliminate" Osama bin Laden's key al-Qaeda members. The shadowy group of SEALs, Delta troops and CIA increased their numbers in the region as soon as President Obama gave the green light to attack bin Laden's lair. The squad - real name the Intelligence Support Activity (ISA) - are ruthlessly tracking Bin Laden's terror associates. Some are operating under cover as foreign businessman and throwing money at local agents to further infiltrate the terror network. Their key mission is to dismantle al-Qaeda's hierarchy before they reorganise and carry out revenge attacks on the West. The navy commandos who killed Bin Laden in Operation Geronimo found a "treasure trove" of five computers, 10 hard drives and more than 100 computer memory devices, including DVDs and memory sticks, in his Pakistani bolthole. Sources say six ISA men assigned to the operation six months ago were among the assault group who stormed Bin Laden's fortress in Abbottabad. And after Bin Laden's death, the Grey Fox, who were also behind the arrest of Saddam Hussein, are focusing on a new No1 target - al-Qaeda's Egyptian leader-in-waiting Ayman al-Zawahiri. He has long been credited with being the brain behind al-Qaeda and is the remaining figurehead of the international terrorist network. It is believed al-Zawahiri is hiding in Pakistan, where most of the al-Qaeda kingpins targeted by the CIA have already been found and killed in hundreds of Predator drone strikes. An intelligence source said: "This is one of the most secretive units within the American spook and military special forces world and they are at the tip of every operation - public and secret. "As experts in intelligence analysis, agent-running and trained at the highest special forces level in military tactics, they are the least known and the most fearsome unit in America." As Bin Laden's bloodied corpse was being airlifted to Afghanistan for DNA testing, the seized material, including computers and discs, were being sucked of information by spook technicians. Information technology experts seconded to the CIA used a "plug in and suck out" device - a piece of computer hardware that milks other computers of all their information. As soon as it was downloaded and copied, the material taken from Bin Laden's mansion was dispatched to America's National Security Agency "cryptoanalysis" unit in Maryland, US. The CIA then began sifting through the files as members of Grey Fox linked to CIA stations throughout the Middle and Far East and Asia were put on stand-by for more "kill or capture" missions. Within hours of Bin Laden's death, it emerged the data included vital communications between senior al-Qaeda members and their leader. Despite Bin Laden's strict rule of never using phones and laptops, it is believed the information given up could lead spooks to more al-Qaeda suspects. The intelligence source added: "Bin Laden's death has sparked some urgency in finding certain people. "But America has been preparing for this for months. "There will be some previously unknown information that will have to be acted on immediately. But certain people will already be under surveillance so the spooks could monitor their reaction when Bin Laden was killed. "Such a massive event would spark a lot of communication between associates with the al-Qaeda network and that would reveal a great deal." Al-Qaeda have been dealt huge blows in recent years, with hundreds of terror-linked individuals being taken out in Pakistan and its border with Afghanistan by drone strikes. Sources say the network know the CIA have infiltrated them and al-Qaeda are desperate to find who in their ranks is giving out information about key figures. The ISA were behind the killing of South American drug baron Pablo Escobar in 1993 after tracking him for months. Ah yes, now I Get it.. these guys found Pablo Escobar hiding in Medellin, but there they actually were tech "support". Though nobody knows who exactly shot Escobar through the ear with a 9mm round, since it wasn't fired from close (as in 'execution style') range. killzone123 Posted May 14, 2011 Report Share Posted May 14, 2011 dont know all that...but one thing is american have a nature of bragging and portraying themselves larger then life...no doubt they are miles ahead in terms of technology etc ...but just technology doesnt make a army good... had read lot of articles during gulf war also...that at times the american army was at their wits end on how to counter things on the battlefield...they are good in bombarding the hell out of a place and then landing down when everything is taken care of by those air raids... in comparision indian army is what a army should be...guts and bravery...the way they fought during the kargil war in the adverse circumstances,i bet any other army in those conditions would have taken ages to get rid of those rats out of their holes...proud of our army and for me no matter what they say about the seals etc...if indians one day get on that same level of technology ...that day things would surely be different Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Especially considering they didn't find a lot of people and other equipment too from the same debris even months after searching. Just a thought. plus the Corruption and the misuse of funds...just check the major scams done by the politicians in defence deals ...if those funds would have been used at the right places..atleast we would be better then now Yeah that's what I meant when I said we still don't know where to put our money. However I'm happy to see that the public is slightly more cognizant these days (ref: the TN elections this time) of the multi-crore scams perpetrated by our leaders even if they are given free rice and free TVs I hope some day somebody starts an agitation with the aim of paying our soldiers, sailors and airforce pilots a proper salary.
