It's random. I got 25$ duties charged on a 50$ item (not a videogame though)

As abhinit said, it has become totally random now. Customs department does not even follow the slab as far as i know. They have started charging the duty amount randomly after the customs hike last year.

I have noticed that AliExpress shipments, through Kolkata Customs at least, come through without duty being levied. It's of course a known fact that sellers mostly declare a lower price on packages. I have had multiple shipments come through in the zone of $40 - $70 without falling under the radar.

Other shipments are randomly getting slapped with duties and also more shipments are being opened by Customs these days. I was recently thinking of ordering a Vostok watch from Meranom but the thought of duty in the present scenario these days is keeping me away.

Yeah I avoid ordering stuff from foreign sites now. Atleast earlier there used to be clarity as to the upper limit of duty that would be charged but now it's all random.

I know I say this everytime a Gillette deal comes up but dont buy those shitty plastic razors kids. Especially those of you that have hard facial hair or sensitive skin. Or just want a better shaving experience.

Use one of these -

Use any decent blade like this -

Get a half decent shaving brush -

If you have a local barber you can always ask them to sell you one of their shaving brushes. Its what I did. Otherwise, Pearl is halfway decent and available on Amazon.

Both Bombay Shaving and Shaving Station make good stuff when it comes to shaving cream and aftershave balm and its an immediate upgrade from the Old Spice/Nivea/crap that most people use. Ditch that crap lotion that burns after you shave.

The Shaving Brush and the Steel Razer are your main expenses. A decent set will cost you 1000-2000Rs. But its a one time investment. My current Razer is like 7 yearl old. Razer blades are cheap as dirt.

Honestly its such a MASSIVE upgrade over those overpriced detachable razers that its ridiculous people still use them. Wet shaving is the only way.

Exactly, getting slammed with arbitrary duty isn't fun at all. Also, the wait times with AliExpress shipments through India Post has made me tired these days. The joy of ordering something and then the subsequent 1 month wait is too much of a dampener.

However, I have heard that with GATI's Priority shipping on GearBest these days people have received their shipments in 10 days as well. Plus no duty.
