I played the first two quite a bit when in college, both campaign and single player. Didn't get to play much of 3. Even the 4, I'll probably just do the campaign and not touch the multiplayer. I didn't like the ending but otherwise the single player campaign is quite good and if you are lucky, you might just get the previous 4 Gears of War games for free.
