Just came here after reading the ET articles. Not sure if the same companies launch such protests in developed nations. A

Was just about to post this...They never seem to protest when during Black friday there products are sold in USA at literally much lower than the best deals here .

So Americans can go enjoy these products at lower price and then there brand does not get hurt but when Indians do it ..its hurting their brand image.

I see racist angle to this. let them go to the court.

Yes I do agree that they should not have their panties inn a bunch because of festive sales. Even the physical retialers offer unrealistic sales prices during festive season. Just yesterday I was a with a friend of mine who is a store manager at one of the most reputed brand on country. One old guy came in looking for a TV of 6.5 lacs. In the end he managed to get that TV for 1lac discount by pitching 2_3 companies against each other.

Amazon is better known in e-retail than Walmart. And rightly so, Amazon.in is here, Walmart is not.

Errrr....

The protectionism followed in India held back large retail chains like Walmart, to protect small and medium vendors. E-tailers are a threat again to the same segment of the market.

When they can keep giants like Walmart at bay, they are in much better position to twist arm of e-tailers through government or the supplier companies.

I think Flipkart gone a little overboard with their marketing, got under scanner.

And everyone knows that this is all for increasing their valuation cuz they are happily taking 10m losses every month.

They screwed their reputation and with companies threatening that goods purchased online will not be serviced, the entire e-comm will now face a new challenge.

People lose jobs all the time with advancement in technology. If we are that much worried about jobs, let's remove automated machineries and computers and go back to manual labor.

That's what they said when the computers came into our country back in 1991. That it will take away jobs and make people jobless.

What people do not realise is that these companies, if allowed to operate in their full might (read FDI in retail; setting up their own warehouses etc) will actually provide jobs and produce more skilled labor.

Guess this country has a general hatred towards the term "skilled labor"

BTW; someone needs to go tell the Patloon Biryani that MRP is not Minimum retail price; it's maximum retail price as per the laws :P
