WhiteWolf
When I first saw the facial animation in Team Bondi’s L.A. Noire I was not just blown away, I was a little bit creeped out as well – it looked too realistic. As impressive as the animations in the crime epic are, technology is always improving, and this tech demo from Janimation makes L.A. Noire look like Disney. It looks literally real. Ok, not literally real, but pretty close to literally real - it is definately real enough to make you double take and be left amazed. The demo shows how they map the actors movements onto the final animation – check it out for yourself below:

HundredProofSam
^ I think the method they've used is a little different. They've superimposed their captured data on the actor's real head. The head movements and body and hand gestures are definitely real (and they sell the realism well). It may not look this impressive when the entire character model is CG and animated. Plus, the face is lacking in textures. Looks like those photoshopped celeb pics in magazines.
nash
It's Janimation, not Japanimation I think he was going for a joke maybe? Also tech is fkin mad. Crazy mad. And so is the creepy CG chick.
