Very surprised to see that there were absolutely no threads/honorable mentions on the Mount & Blade series. am i missing something here, or are people here just ignoring what must be one of the most enjoyable current RPG IPs out there.

Published by those pico task-managers of almost all War Strategy simulations (World War I/II, War for Roses, American revolution) with games like Europa Universalis, Hearts of iron, Gettysberg et al., this rather err..free-spirited RPG is unique in the sense that it allows you to play in a medieval open-world format without mucking about in potions, spells and other such rot. Add in a modding community that is just as dedicated as the Civilization or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. one, the game is just hours and hours of entertainment (though, i realize that it is generically true for almost any other game also)

Anyway, i thought i'll give a shoutout to prospective game buyers/players. you can read an excellent game diary at the Quarter to Three webthingy.Link here

cheerio, and see you (hopefully) in Calradia :)

I played the first one for quite some time.. The combat is excellent and the free roaming/pillaging is fun for a while, but the lack of any kind of story makes it pointless after a while.

I levelled up quite a bit under some King, earned a few castles and villages, then slowly lost most of them, after which i didnt feel like doing it again.

Awesome poll options!

danke, internet tyler. Where is your in-game tyler these days? killing boss baddies in HD glory, no doubt ;)

the expansion M&B: Warband is quite good actually, better than the vanilla game. The point of the game is becoming the King of the land; which is slightly difficult, owing to, amongst other things, an incredible lack of ability to give different orders to different troops and battle maps being so tiny that enemy cavalry is upon you in 15seconds or lesser. Still, battles are fun :)

the err..believe-it-or-not..Multi-player (in a sword & no sorcery game) makes it worthwhile. suddenly the game becomes a manshoot without the shoots. sorta like a manjabs or manthrusts...err, on second thoughts, lemme stay away from trying to name this genre by myself :D you fight with SWORDS, with OTHER people. MAN-to-MAN. its TOTALLY LIKE MORTAL COMBAT...JUST BETTER

okie, am kidding ;) please don't flame me. i dunno the secret triangle-square-cross combo to get the defensive shield up

cheers

#3 option on the poll...

I am the Scurrilous Grievous Thievious, the scruffier, mangier version of Tyler in an admittedly poorer game-world. i only wish to be liked (and to steal your spoons) :P
