piper
My PS3 won't read any discs. Tried a couple of game discs, and even some regular DVDs. Once the disc is inserted, after about 5 seconds it makes a sound as if the disc is ejecting. That never happened earlier. Anyhow, none of the discs are being recognised. This is a two month old PS3. Anyone got any home remedy ideas like cleaning/factory reset that has worked for you in such a case (disc not reading).

piper
lol third/fourth instance, time to make a PS3 SOE(Sound of Eject) thread @piper: get a replacement No! I don't wanna get replacement so soon (unnecessary hassle). I just bought this console And Aman, the nearest service center from here would be Indiranagar. You have any experience dealing with them? No offense it happens to me sometimes , I just put my PS3 upright and insert disc it works and I put it down again I'll try this right away. Hope it works. I've even tried the removing all cables, hold power button for 30 seconds, reflash the firmware (3.61), but same thing. Its in warranty, so whats the process. Should I contact Sony service center first? Or just walk in there with the console and bill? And do I need to take the box also then?

AtheK
SOD is SOE are two diff issues, in this case just that soje disc refuse to sit properly in the Stupid PS3. @Piper: No idaed mate, well will know soon once you detail it @sackboy: It works sometimes, yes. But then that is not the solution, it is just stupid hardware which has failed. Pathetic Gen of consoles.

Dredd
Am getting a new ps3 here. It will be 100-110v one bcoz of voltage in japan. . Does it work directly in india? I mean ppl do hv US ps3 consoles which are in 100v range. Do they connect the ps3 directly in indian power socket without using step-up transformer? Plz let me know
Sackboy
PS3 is universal , it supports voltages from 100-240 (I have US ps3 ) But there will be one very sad problem for a japan PS3 in stead of pushing X for jump, select, hit etc. etc. You would have to press O AFAIK , and O will not work as cancel but X will be cancel
