THQ has promised to release a Metro: Last Light E3 Gameplay trailer on Thursday 14 July – that’s US time, so those of us already enjoying the tail end of the week have another day to wait.

The trailer will be added to the Metro YouTube channel, but a prologue is currently showing exclusively on the game’s Facebook page. You have to Like it to have a squiz.

Crysis 2 can eat crow. Now that's DX 11.

I bet the lighting and GI in Crysis 2 is enough to overtake this game entirely, beside Metro is a proper definition of corridor shooter.

And there may be thousands of corridor shooters but most of them have a good view distance/area , with Metro its just....dimly lit corridors.

Well that's intentional. It's set mostly in underground metro in a bleak post apocalyptic world. So I wouldn't expect what you are expecting from this game. The small enclosed environments are the need. This is the reason why I specifically like two moments from the previous game, When the child sees sunshine for the first time. And the other being at the end when Artyom reaches atop the tower. Barring these two sequences, the game pretty much makes you feel claustrophobic.

Which is pretty much irrational to my point.

@Praveer

You're speaking entirely from a technical perspective, and comparing apples and oranges.

If you want to talk about viewdistances/areas, Metro did have them, when necessary

The last level is the perfect example for that. The game is a dimly lit corridor shooter, and a rather good one at that.

Why do you guys have to argue everytime?

My reply was to MT who was referring to Direct x 11 and such, so obviously my reply will be purely from a technical perspective.

@Praveer: Crysis 2's lighting is undoubtedly flashy, but Metro makes much better use of DX 11 effects. Surfaces appear to have solidity and relief. Rounded surfaces appear more round. Detail on metallic surfaces is astounding, all of which Crysis 2 seems to lack. Its just a lot of shine, albeit very very pretty shiny presshiuss.

Rounded surfaces appear more round.

Result of small area, meaning they have a much higher polygon budget and beside with Dx11 you get Tessellation for most of the stuff in Crysis 2 .

Tessellation in Metro is limited to characters mostly.

I'll disagree here, I think the metal shaders in Crysis 2 are the best I've ever seen apart from Killzone 2/3.

That's coz even Crysis 2 is a coridoor shooter game. Halo is the ONLY true open world sand-box game on consoles.

Praise be to Bungie.

Crysis2 is soo inferior to Crysis 1 & Farcry 1, that it's hard to believe these all games r from the same developer.

Story has always been crap in Crytek games, but the gameplay & AI was top-notch.

It's just sad to see such gr8 developers making FORMULA based games now, instead of taking chances.
