Halo 4 Forge creators rejoice, a new Forge Map with a series of wide open spaces is coming on April 11, it's a free, and it's called Forge Island.

It's actually a series of three islands in one giant open water area. The first island is a very large open space, the other two are medium and small sized. All three are very flat and unobstructed for pixel perfect Forging. Forge Island is compatible with the current set of Forge tools, but it will also introduce some new items into the Forge palette as well.

We got our first look at the new areas today during 343i's PAX East Halo 4 panel, which included a demo walkthrough of a custom-built version of the classic Halo: Combat Evolved map, Hang 'Em High.

Forge Island will be available to download for free on April 11, just a few days after the Castle Map Pack, which will be available for download on April 8 (you can check out one of the new maps, Perdition, right in the video above).

343i also talked about changes coming in its third Title Update (TU) to Halo 4. Specifically, the TU will include balancing updates to the Active Camp and Gauss Warthog, but more notably, it will see the return of the "X" marker on the HUD when a team mate is killed.

Im stuck at 'shutdown' mission where my banshee blew and im on top of 1 pillar where every few seconds i get a checkpoint (Extremely annoying glitch).whenever i try to get down i die,as its a huge fall down.

Anyone knows any solution other than to replay the whole mission?I know there are some easy ways to dash through the mission but i have completed it the hard way and i dont want to restart.

Just started the game yesterday. Enjoying it. The campaign definitely is made for hard core fans. I don't know half the words they're using (played all halo games except halo 2)

 

Who's up for some MP with a complete noob? I suck at shooters so don't get angry at me in team modes :fear:

Is it just me or is the SP campaign a snoozefest? I think I'm about halfway through it and it's very difficult to dig up the motivation to resume.

Yea its tailored more towards the hardcore. And by hardcore I mean the ones invested in the lore beyond the games.

Its all covered extensively in the forerunner saga by Greg Bear.

 

Like I said, the overarching story and the backstory is made for the hardcore fans. (And there are a lot of us).

 

But yes it could have been handled better in terms of exposure for the uninitiated and those who only follow the game's story and not the universes' as a whole.

Yeah I know it's covered there. I just spend the afternoon looking up all this stuff. Watched a few youtube videos and went through the timeline learning about all this.

 

It wouldn't have hurt them to put Codex entries Mass Effect style.

While it would have been helpful, it wouldn't have been in keeping with the core design of halo, which unlike Mass Effect an RPG, is a shooter.

Really it all comes down to shoddy writing techniques, undefined exposition which they approached too recklessly and did nothing to ease in the new player and information dumping. The story while a fun ride for the core will leave others wanting.
