^^ Wonder which helicopter is shown in the final screen-shot, the front profile and snout is very distinctive of the Soviet / Russian Mi-28 'Havoc' but the coaxial main-rotor configuration comes from the Ka-50 'Hokum' family of helicopters.

DayZ port brings the undead to Arma 3 beta

Modding group Zoombies have taken it upon themselves to port the zombie-infested DayZ mod to Bohemia Interactive's Arma 3 beta.

The ported mod makes use of the Arma 3 engine; however, as with any straight port a number of existing bugs from the original version of the game is still prominent, including glitches to zombie animation. The modders have also introduced a new inventory system to the game.

The official DayZ standalone title is still on the horizon. In January, developer Dean Hall confirmed the game's release would be rescheduled from its initial launch window set for the end of 2012. The game has no official launch date as of yet.

ARMA is always empty but that doesn't make it bland. It's more of realism/simulation slow paced game with huge-huge map. Playing solo will surely bore you out in couple hours.

Play with friends for best experience and max fun.

Those are ARMA 3 shots? God.. why does it look so... bland?

20 square km map. You need to move around to where the action is, the BattleField doesn't come to you, you go to it.

If I meant "empty" I would have said "empty".

Look at the buildings, the roads. The walls. It all looks extremely plain to me. I guess I'm talking more about art style here. It looks something like what a model city set would look like, not a real city that's been lived in.

Maybe I'm asking for too much?

ARMA does not restrict itself to a city map, or a large vehicular map. It has to keep rolling, non-stop, it looses the small details because of this, which can be easily hidden when everything is exploding around you.

If you had to concentrate more on the game-play I doubt you would notice the 'lack' of character. Everything cannot be given an art-direction, especially a supposed simulator like this has a lot to loose by trying to dabble with that aspect.
