ALPHA17
^ Almost no one from here plays this game any more. And most of the servers are EU or NA based. Even I have migrated to BattleField 4 because of player counts. Can you tell how different is it from bf4? Following, No getting shot behind walls (unless you are pinging ~450+ consistently) No UAV's (spotter plane does three-five passes if called, can be shot down) No Mini-map No AC-130 Spectre's No persistent spotting No kill camera (unless you are playing in Action Mode) No Friend-Foe identification system (distinguish at range depending on uniform and posture) You can only spawn on platoon leaders One shot kill on most rifles with delayed notification system (you will not be credited with a kill immediately) No rank system and unlocking of guns according to that. You will get guns according to class and period of the map you are playing on. Commanders are always in field (can be KIA) and rely on platoon leaders to call down artillery or provide smoke screen No K/D record (in-match) All guns have to be ranged manually (not just sniper rifles) Tanks need a three / four man crew to run effectively (and you get limited tank reinforcements) Asymmetric team set-up's depending on game mode Buy once, get regular updates, free maps, game modes and guns / vehicles Overall it is a very hard shooter with much more open and sprawling map design than BattleField, which alternates between open to absolute garbage maps like METRO. It is how a hard shooter should be made unlike BattleField whose 'Hardcore' mode is about as fun as stabbing yourself in the eye. It should be on Sale soon, so ~$10 -->$15 for the full game (Red Orchestra II: Heroes of Stalingrad + Rising Storm expand-alone).

ALPHA17
Does this mean that if we add the game to our library before 24 hour , then we can play it anytime ? Yes, game would be yours forever once you claim it in the 24 hour period. Maybe I should reinstall. Its probably not as buggy as I remember it being the last time I took it out for a spin. /Checks size. 22 GB. Pass. Try it, after playing so much BattleField over the past few months, the ~100 or so hours poured into this feel like a much needed learning curve. Also, I need a new hard-drive. Nice will grab the free copy and try it. Have seen some vids of game. Although I don't like fps these days, this one looks hardcore like CS. Might give it a go. ALPHA17
Although I don't like fps these days, this one looks hardcore like CS. Counter Strike is nothing like this. Imagine BattleField meets ARMA. The maps are huge 64 v64 affairs but the team has limited slots for each specialised role, so you cannot have 10 marksman / recon players, or 10 engineers running around like in BattleField. CS is my favorite fps might not be as grand as 64v64 but was solid. I liked the cover mechanics in this game. That and the map design interested me. That and the map design interested me. I am not talking just from a point of scale in-game. Drawing parallels to Red Orchestra would be difficult because none if any of the mainstream shooters will give you the UI and audio-visual aids that have been put by Tripwire in this game to aid the player even after minimal HUD overlays are used on screen. ALPHA17
Rising Storm gets Armored Assault content update and on sale ~75% off The Armored Assault updated applies to both Rising Storm and Red Orchestra 2. It adds a new weapon, the German MG 42 light machine gun, which is a veteran unlock for the Axis MG class, and two new tanks. The first is the Russian T-70, a small, fast tank that can carry two players and a 45mm cannon. The second is the German Panzer III, which is a smaller version of the Panzer IV, armed with a 50mm cannon. There also two new maps: the jungle-themed Kobura where the Japanese team attacks US defensive positions, and Tula Outskirts, a remake of a map from the original Red Orchestra. The Arad 2 map has also been updated to accommodate the new vehicles. If you don't already own Rising Storm, it's on sale this week for $5, or 75% off its normal price.
