arun360 Posted April 13, 2008 Report Share Posted April 13, 2008 (edited) This was one of the meets where we actually played a lot of games. The lack of alcohol and cigarettes at the venue was no deterrent(the ones who smoked and drank knew where to do it ) CADs camera has all the pictures and his USB port is busted so we'll need to wait a bit for the pics to be uploaded. Okay so the meet was in full swing from 4pm onwards. Three stages of DMC4 followed by splitscreen laps on GT5. We chatted a while about GTA IV preorders and where we were procuring our copies from. Everyone was unanimous about wanting to play it on day one. Not so much about MGS4, though. To remind everyone about the awesomeness of Kojima, we fired up MGS 3 and watched the intro cutscene and played till Snake finds his backpack. Snake stomping his cigar before the drop was a whoa moment. One thing to note is we didn't have many fanboy arguments which were the staple of previous meets. And Hot SNAKE Pixel was the sweetest guy! He bought us all lovely goodies from his Amsterdam trip. Lighters and other RLD memorabilia and yummy Beligian chocolate. . Will post pics in a while. HP, CAD and I headed out to buy supplies for the mocktails.. Juice- cranberry, grape , orange lichi, vanilla essence lime cordial, coconut milk, pepsi, curd icecreams etc. We also had our fix of alcohol chicken and cigarettes in HP's car on the way back. When we got home the rest of the team were playing Buzz Maha Quiz. And then we started to make the drinks. mix and match any or all of the following - juice, essence, coconut milk, ice, sugar, pepsi and whip it all up - voila! mocktail! in a chilled tall frothing glass . HP, Aman and CAD took turns. HPs drink was the first and inspired the rest of us to try our hand. Aman mixed 3 drinks and they were all delicious and rich in flavor, you need to taste it to believe it.. we couldn't believe this was his first time. CAD made a mean yummy lassi for all of us. Going along with the ice cold mocktails were the spicy bakharwadis from Pune( Thanks to a very generous Pune GI member, sonups2. We really appreciate the gesture man ) We then moved on to a different type of a quiz. The Guy Game. Read up on it, the concept of the game is quite good. And as always the execution was a tad off the mark. The game was frustratingly difficult given that the target audience for the game are drunk frat boys. The flash-o-meter didn't fill up fast enough and we ran out of patience and our audience were going boo at every pixelated flash. Smokers could always excuse themselves and head outside for a smoke. Thanks for not being too strict Athek. Next up was the Burnout Revenge competion. We pitted the 8 of us against each other in 4 sets of 2 and the winners took on themselves in the semis and the finals. This was a serious game since the winner didn't have to pay for dinner. There was a lot of cheering and trashtalk and an hour later, Anuj was the winner. It was 10.30pm. We booked tables and the 8 of us headed out on our bikes and car for dinner. We noisily discussed the agenda for the next meet blissfully unaware of the patrons with WTF faces seated nearby. After sumptous dinner and drink we waved each other goodbye and headed home. The meet wasn't over yet. I got a tad drunk and couldn't ride back all the way and crashed at CAD's. Now CAD's place is right next to the airport. Every hour a plane takes off or lands passing right above our heads. We stayed up till 3am chatting about gaming, work and life in general. We also played some Bioshock on his LCD, which by the way is an amazing game. Before sleeping, CAD warned me not to get shaken by the low flying 747 that would land at 4.30 am. I might have missed it cos I was dead tired and I only remember waking up to another noisy takeoff at 11am in the morning. We had idlis, tea and cigarettes for breakfast which got me charged up for the 15km ride back to my place and the first thing I'm doing at home is documenting this amazing meetup. I had a very good time at the meet especially at Aman's and CADs. We all make such a great team guys. Over to CAD for a more detailed writeup and pics.
