theneurotoxin
Yeah pretty much this. I dont see whats the problem. Its not like Valve are rushing in to put their games on non-steam services. And its not like Valve games are 30% cheaper since they use their own service, so why should EA's games be different? EA have all the right in the world to do this. Oh and you know what, Origin has regional pricing. Battlefield 3 PC version (and Mass effect 3) is up for pre order there for 999 Rs. Beats buying on Steam. I would think most of you would love this change. And what happens to Steam sales on EA's catalogue? As far as I am concerned that's the main draw of Steam. Regional pricing is nice alright but I'd rather get the boxed copy for the same price — that way I'll save some bandwidth. Not to mention, I'd avoid maintaining another DD service account if I can. EDIT: Look's like EA has an analogous service to Steamworks in place. Another reason that justifies getting boxed copies. Of course EA can do this. But I think they have a lot more sales to lose than Valve does by not having a presence on Origin. Simply put, Valve can get away with this because they made the first move and established a domineering presence in this area.
Sackboy
Even if they lose 30% sales they make the same amount of money ..

I don't know about VPN access though. You can buy stuff from PS360/iTunes US stores, you either need local credit card or recharge cards.

No I mean content like movies etc which are only for the western audience. Even itunes, we can only buy apps, songs/movies/books etc are not even visible when we login from India. Aftrunner
It’s unfortunate that Steam has removed Crysis 2 from their service. This was not an EA decision or the result of any action by EA. Steam has imposed a set of business terms for developers hoping to sell content on that service – many of which are not imposed by other online game services. Unfortunately, Crytek has an agreement with another download service which violates the new rules from Steam and resulted in its expulsion of Crysis 2 from Steam. Crysis 2 continues to be available on several other download services including GameStop, Amazon, Origin.com and more. My link
