~The TV Shows Thread~

Regarding girl on girl action, slightly off topic, but straight men like to see girl on girl action and not man on man, but straight women don't like to see man on man action too, and are slightly okay with seeing girl on girl. Just shows that as long as there is a girl participating, it's okay for everyone to watch. Weird lol.

It's ok to feel uncomfortable because it's not something you're used to seeing. Man on man stuff is almost never shown in media.

But we also need to acknowledge that it's an irrational emotional reaction you're having and we shouldn't be telling creators to stop putting that stuff in their art if they want to. If anything, that kind of reaction is an argument in favour of more gay stuff in media so that it becomes normalised and more people are ok with it

For us its a just a scene in a tv show that we can fast forward or skip and go about our day. For them, having this ability to love one another without everyone else feeling disgusted - it's one of the most important part of their lives.

So true.

It might not be a big deal for us when we say we feel disgusted as we can simply forward the scene, but the point is that this feeling of disgust, when reflected as a group, is the reason for persecution. And this is applicable for any group, be it homosexuals or a particular race/religion, etc. This feeling of disgust is what will stop them to feel normal, to show affection as straight people do.

I feel very uncomfortable and disgusted watching man on man action. Had to skip this and some other parts on episode 3. Just can't stand it.

Reading posts here make me realize it is now not acceptable to say these things lol.

Ya I too forwarded through the scenes. Same in Game of Thrones. I don't think I will ever get comfortable watching man on man action.

Though overall the episode was really great and the emotional impact was huge. It won't have been the same if both were friends instead of couple.

It will take time. My parents used to be disgusted by kissing in "foreign" films because Bollywood always hid it behind a flower or a neck twist manoeuvre. But now they don't care.

Yeah. But the thing is, if people keep pushing against it being shown in any media, it won't really become normal.

I still feel uncomfortable when watching a kissing scene with my parents. I don't think I will ever be comfortable watching men kiss on tv or movies ever. No hate but it's just personal preference. I won't boycott movies or shows that show it or won't review bomb, but will forward or skip that part wherever possible.

And if it's a movie like Brokeback mountain whose subject matter itself is Gay relationship, I will never ever watch it even if it wins all Oscars. It's just not my preference. Hopefully the lgbt guys understand the concept of personal choice and don't call me a bigot or hate me.

Very well put. I personally really enjoyed episode 3 and to your point, it is an irrational emotional reaction; humanity has a long way forward.

Edit: To add to that, the way they depicted them being gay and their relationship was much cleaner and forward than how most Bollywood movies/shows "try" to do it.

Nahi bhai. Jurm yeh hai - why shove gay porn when i'm least interested. why cater this minority.. i puked out.

So just because you don't like it you feel the 'minority' should not be catered to ? Also, I believe you are in the minority who did not like the episode, you could have just skipped that particular scene. No need to come out here ranting on how 'gay porn' was shoved in your face. Since, so many shows and movies now have 'gay porn' please read the summary and then decide to watch it so that you don't puke and also spare us the torture of your rants.

Not to forget his rant on Muslims/depiction of islam in movies along with that.

Problem is that this disgust is the start of persecution/discrimination. It goes beyond just not watching a certain movie or a scene. In a group of 10, if 8 feel this way about homosexuals (or for that matter any other race/religion), other 2 belonging to that sexual orientation/race/religion will never feel part of the community or normal. This is where discrimination (and then other extreme forms of oppression) starts. Not saying you will do that, or you are like that, just that it is not as simple as a 'personal choice'.

Exactly same. Never watched Brokeback Mountain because of Gay plot. I don't think I will ever get comfortable watching man on man and don't want to be.

A lot of people get disgusted by a lot of things in cinema, I never judge them, in fact if get asked I usually tell them myself that there XX scene in here and movie is based on XX plot so they may avoid despite liking that particular movie. See the movie thread itself and you'll know.

At the same time, I ain't boycotting anything. In fact I didn't hate the episode because of it. I just didn't like it as much as first two that is all. I do feel the emotional connect and overall theme was understandle.

It is simply my personal preference to not like these scenes, even Dostana is a no go for me lol.

But let's just agree to disagree on this and move on from this Gay topic :)
