~The TV Shows Thread~

I thought there aren’t a lot of TV series out there with this good acting, this great production values, so noir visuals and such smoky rooms in every other scene. And havent watched anyone bullshitting his way in and out of trouble as classily as Don Draper.

Sigh. Its probably the most underrated overrated-show.

The Wire is absolutely brilliant. Pinnacle of television writing, IMO.

The scene where Dee explains chess to Bodie and Wallace has to be one of the best ever. "The King stay the King..."

For anyone else who's watched it, favourite scenes and quotes?

Do yourself a favour and watch all of it. It's very slow-paced and even for a series with such a slow pace, it starts out exceptionally slow. But stick with it and you will reap rich dividends.

Fantastic characters, awesome character development and a great plot. Omar, Lester, Bunk, Avon, Stringer... :D

Also, sheeeeeeiiiiiittttttttt.

I remember that line - it was brilliant. There are some classic moments in the show. Damn - I need to finish season 1. Batman TAS derailed me.

btw Psych is still nice.

So happy that they seem to be getting rid of Abigail - hated her

Yup, that was awesome. But while it was a great show overall, it never reached the heights of season 1 in any of the later seasons.

In terms of consistency, it didn't. But there were flashes of brilliance throughout the show, IMO, like the last two episodes of S3, Clay Davis' courtroom speech, Frank Sabotka's

last drive

, etc.

I think a lot of wire fans tend to underrate Season 2. After repeat viewings I have come to the conclusion season 2 is as good as season 1.

BTW seriously check out generation kill. Its from the makers of The wire. Its only 7 episodes and you have to watch it a couple of times to fully appreciate it but its very, very good.
