Snake Posted March 18, 2011 Report Share Posted March 18, 2011 not looking for logic but i do think that the show has gone to sh*t in general. the writers have systematically dismantled all the main themes that the show started out with when it was actually fun. the whole idea at the beginning was that this nerd who works in a department store suddenly gets a super computer inside his head. so the cia needed him but he completely out of his depth with this new spy world that he had been forcefully introduced into. it was fun to watch the bumbling idiot who had no knowledge about anything but at the same time he knew everything through the intersect. 4 season on, now he's just a super spy who can do anything. then there was the theme of the double life he used to live, in the buy more and as a spy. no one knew about his second life and there was always tension about his friends and family finding out. it's like he was always juggling so many balls and they could all come crashing down at anytime. now what happened? basically every one knows about him being a spy. as a result of this becoming a full on spy, the buy more has become absolutely redundant to the story. which means jeff and lester and big mike are utterly useless characters now and morgan is hanging on to a handful of threads of relevance. the funny stuff that used to happen in the buy more has become painfully irritating. captain awesome was an amusing character that they killed off in favor of a more serious one. in fact, the show is not very funny at all anymore. it used to be a lighthearted comedy. and then there was always the will they-won't they thing between sarah and chuck. now they're engaged and their dynamic has just become flat. what else can i say about the writing.... the whole super bad guys organizations have become boring. first it was fulcrum. then it was the ring. then it was the volkov thing. throw in daddy issues. then mommy issues. the writers have been scraping the bottom of the barrel for plot ideas for quite some time now. using apple juice to disarm a nuclear bomb is just indicative of the kind of sh*t that they are writing these days... it's not endearingly absurd, it's just outright retarded. first couple of seasons were great. then it just went downhill. no regrets if it gets canceled. watching yvonne is awesome but it can't carry the show anymore. damn bro....u really took it seriously...... Chuck is sliding downhill fast, infact i did not see the current season beyond a couple of episodes and wtf !! capt awesome killed ?? how is that a 2 year old spoiler ?? he was there at the start of this season. btw, the high point was season 2, best of the lot. season 3 was meh, started up slowly but last few episodes were nice as his identity is revealed to all, after that its the same thing over and over. they seriously should have stopped at season 3, ring dead, papa avenged and all good. Home movies and Sealabs 2021 were cartoon shows that were shown on Cartoon network back in the day. Both amazingly brilliant shows! Some of the people involved are the same.
