Blasts in Mumbai

So, you want to do what. Call everyone you know to let them know you are okay. Will that change anything. You can always call them a few hours later. Someone who just had an heart attack or some accident, can't wait. If I say, that this is sad, I feel for those people, and that kind of thing, it won't make a difference. That's why I don't do it. But, one thing for sure, I will remember it for a long time. Tell me, how many of you super-sensitive guys, even followed japan's earthquake and tsunami news after a week? And you telling me, I need help. Atleast I still remember that they suffered, and are still suffering probably.

Also, I had gone through a certified training for emergency situations, that's why I don't panic much. But, I guess, it is stupid to even talk sense, to guys like you. Pretty sure, someone from you, will even join stupid rallies and burn effigies of political parties to show their concern. I am sorry, but I can't do that. If that makes me an idiot, well I am happy to be called one.

You are a typical Indian with a big mouth. I have seen many people like you sitting in Mani's lunch home in Sion, eating Medu Vada and saying cool stuff.

That's the problem. You didn't even tried to understand the issue. Issue is not the blast imo, but people like you, who start all this "OMG, hope everyone is okay" sh*t, when something happens. Other times, you won't even give a rat's a*s to what is going on. Living in Mumbai for a month, I realized people actually care much less about blasts here, but more about the aftermath. Abhi tum jaisa log milke danga karenge, bus jalayenge, kis liye ki police kuch nahi karti. un log ka problem koi nahi dekhte. daily, main itna jagah se jaata, jidhar ek chhota sa patakha bhi phoota, to kam se kam 10 log marenge, bhaag daud me. emergency situation ko kaise handle karna, aata hi nahi.. emergency situations ka first rule, "don't panic".. par log pura cellphone network jaam karte.. idhar mera manager flight book kar raha, aaj hi waapis bhaagne ko.. aise bewakoofi se kya hoga.

Abhi tak koi sure nahi, ki kahin aur phir se blast na ho.. aise me police ko call karne ke liye ya hospital call karne ke liye jyada jaroori hai, ya mera apne gharwalo ko batana, ki main sahi hoon. jo mar raha, usko call karna, aur pata chala, network busy... daily kam se kam 100 emergencies hota waise bhi.. sab ke sab band.. agar mujhe koi medical emergency hua, to main to phokat me mar jaoonga na, bhale hi main 20km door hoon. ek ghante ke baad aaram se ghar par call karke, theek hoon, bolne ka.. baad me agle din bhi pura description de sakte.. phokat roads, telephone lines jam nahi karne ka..

BTW, I do feel for those, who lost their lives.. I could have easily been one of those.. just the thought makes me sick.. but still panicking doesn't make sense...

What you say is correct, though given the situation say your parents are in Mumbai & you're in some outside city, will you actually give so much thought before calling them ? I don't think so. What we actually need is a better health care system. The govt. needs to have a proper paramedical force in every govt. hospital, ready to be rushed in any stressful situation, both via road & air.

Though I do agree people should at least avoid the roads which lead to nearby hopsitals so that the injured are taken care of ASAP, but that rarely happens.

Truth is, scumbag terrorists will always find a way to blow themselves up. Metal detectors etc are a nice thought but at the end of the day short of putting cops everywhere and declaring a 24X7 curfew nothing will prevent things like these from happening. And even then it would be very hard. There are too many people and too many crowded places in our country. We cant be everywhere.

What we need instead is a world class (literally as good as the CIA, Mossad etc) intelligence agency that can stop these attacks before they begin. RAW seems to be painfully lacking at the moment.

To have such a world class intelligence agency, we need people who can put the country above themselves & their family members come whatever may be the situation. I'm yet to meet such kinda people IRL !

This! Freaking this is the reason! Anytime something happens, people start blaming security. Every single f**king time. Sadly, not even police cares about it anymore. Even they know, it will be like new Hello for a couple days, and then everyone will forget.

To quote one of my teammate:

from Prateek (privately):

ok... there seems aseries of bomb blast in mumbai

to Prateek (privately):

yeah, just came to know about.. not going home till 10 tonight then

to Prateek (privately):

right now, at most secure place. :)

from Prateek (privately):

hmmm

to Prateek (privately):

Too much panic?

from Prateek (privately):

Ive seen 2 blasts in my stay of 3 years here

from Prateek (privately):

hmm

to Prateek (privately):

oh, then cool. BTW, everyone here is in panic mode. Manoj is already booking his flight back home.

from Prateek (privately):

tell him not to panic... its habituated here in mumbai... no ne will remember it tomorrow

to Prateek (privately):

I know. But, can't help it. He gets panicked if he recieves a mail from Jose. So, this is kinda okay for him. :P

from Prateek (privately):

:D

How will "being sad" for the people who died, help, in this case?

TrollRunner type in English? Difficult to read Hindi in English for me

Sorry buddy. Will make sure to write in English. :)

Almost after every blast that happens, news comes across that RAW or some other security agencies informed us that a big attack could happen.Still they can prevent the blast, shameful really.

Yeah right. And you are one awesome human being, who can't see anyone dying. But, you are still able to somehow forget about it, in 2 days. <_<

I am in Mumbai, right now, dude. My parents didn't even called me. They know, I will call them, later anyways. Why try calling right away and help in actually jamming the cell network? Last time when there was a blast near forum mall, in bangalore, I was in forum mall, itself. So, its not like I am talking out of my a*s. Just saying, if I say "this is sad", it won't change. Better is to actually help someone. My manager was planning to leave right away. I asked him to stop, as no one knows how many more bombs are there, and we were in a secure location anyways. Should act responsibly instead of panicking or being sad.

if you call them and tell them that you are OK then you will spare them a couple of anxious hours - please do that

calling them will actually help causing lesser panic, would you not call your near ones if you knew that they were supposed to be near the blast site

stop acting like a douche-bag

Three friends, whom I am in regularly touch with, apart from college friends. Also, I am myself in Mumbai.

so hypothetically, if there is a blast or a shoot out within 15 metres of where ur frnds or family lives, what is the first thing u will do?

wait for a few hours to call them or wait for them to call you??

Well, thankfully they won't be. They know how to act in such kind of situation, or they might have themselves be calling me. Running back home, calling everyone you know, will only result in delays for healthcare to reach to the injured people. Why should I help to worsen the situation? My parents know that, and they won't be anxious, that's why. :)

easy to say when you are not close to the site of the blast, if they knew you were anywhere near it, they would be going crazy right now

you are acting like a perfectly calm Hollywood movie cop - let me tell you this is not movie and nothing you are stating is sounding anywhere cool - it is highly impractical sh*t

Did you missed the posts? It did happened within 200 meters from me, and the first thing on my mind was not to call my parents, but to actually run and help those, who I can. Also, in that hypothetical condition of 15m radius, I will be seriously injured, and will rather hope that someone call a f**king ambulance, instead of their family.

Right now, I was chatting with a friend who lives in santa cruz, and was near dadar at that time. He was telling me, that ambulance is stuck in traffic, cuz every idiot is trying to run back to home. Dumbasses don't know that they can wait, ambulance can't. Why are you unable to understand this basic thing? Come on man. I expect atleast software professionals to know this much. Don't you went through that emergency training before starting your career? I guess, that is the standard in every software company.
