Digital Foundry: The Future of Anti-Aliasing

The current HD console generation is maturing, and developers are looking for ever more ingenious ways of extracting better-quality visuals from the fixed hardware configurations available, while conserving as much system performance as possible.

 

One of the key components in a quality, polished graphical presentation is anti-aliasing - the process whereby the distortion effects generated by rendering a higher-resolution image into a lower-resolution framebuffer are diminished. The most infamous - and perhaps the most off-putting - aliasing artifacts are of course the dreaded edge "jaggies".

dil se bole...mera ko aa aur mlaa ka difference jyada samaj mein nahi ata...infact jitna bhi pics i have seen of differences ...i can hardly point out much....but i can do see some changes when PhysX is on ...so i really dont get it why you guys so crazy after aa and no mlaa...

differences are there b/w AA and no-AA, see the pics in full size and then see, but yes, it's hyped up imo, physx improves the experience a lot more and i saw the replied in alice with and without physx video :P

okay...seen those pics...still dont see much difference...it just appears a bit smooth on the edge... nothing to go OMG! over this...physx though...bring some really nice touches...enough to feel good abt ..
