shekdown
@ shakedown Oh yuss... his stint at ROH was super awsome !! i know i marked out like a girl when he did a cameo in a wrestlemania match cena vs hhh when cena came as a chicago mafia and CM punk was one of his entourage. loved his pepsi plunge (2nd rope pedgriee for those who dont know) but sadly that move is a killer on his knees (also hhh copyright on the pedgriee) so we cant see that in wwe. Hes being pushed heavily by WWE since the start, from what little Ive seen, and hes been some huge feuds already. Its definitely because the WWE are afraid to lose him to TNA. But the problem is, with the kids programming these days with WWE, there is no way Punk is going to do anything he did at ROH. lol. ofcourse the matches are booked. and my point exactly was..that they showed Goldberg in an indomitable light cz maybe that was the only role he could carry off. but he could carry it off amazingly. and maybe he left such a huge impression was because he was there for such a short time and has never really came back. anyway.. they may have shown many wrestlers or superstars in different roles but there is only one specific role that has suited a particular wrestler the best. i don't think Austin really changed but his popularity was way too much to tinker with. similarly the Rock was only popular when he was 'cheated upon for the match' and had to fight against odds. when he came back as this cocky SOB nobody really cared. HHH and the Undertaker are the only guys to pull off different roles exceptionally well. but then again, when undertaker was this chopper riding 'dead man walking' guy.. he was very mediocre. oh.. and for CM Punk, i think he's too slow a wrestler to be any good Ofcourse Austin. You have not idea what your talking about. Ringmaster Austin, becoming Bad Mouth Austin, then Austin 3:16. He was supposed to be a heel when he became Austin 3:16, but the crowd took a shine to him, he wasnt being majorly pushed by WWF, Rocky Mavia(The Rock) was. Instead, the crowd started loving the new kind of guy, Bad Mouthing Austin. Stone Cold was born. A totally different character from the cocky Ring Master. Rocky Mavia, the baby-face Samoan wrestler was hated by all fans, booed to high hell. Then became leader of the NOD, a gang of African American wrestlers, all of whom were amazing talents. His character was a cocky and brash man, totally different from Mavia. Then slowly as he detached from the Nation and started main eventing, more often, he simply started referring to himself as The Rock, giving some great snappy retorts and funny comments. He totally changed his character. The small returns were never meant to be a major Rock return. He took a cameo role, as some kind of a crap, cocky wrestler who would always do something that angered the crowd and wrestlers. Too predictable, not enough depth, poor scripting. HHH, like you said, pulled out several different roles at the best standards. Undertaker, however, has had just one role, through and through. No change there. Difference is, the Underataker character is the best scripted character in wrestling, till date. Cant even compare Goldberg to Taker. Edit : Oh and CM Punk is not slow. achilles
hmm.. yea.. the usual progression of any wrestler would be there. even Zack Snyder, if he wuda stayed but we still remember the rock as the rock.. the guy who verbally entertained us the most. when he went negative he never really caught on. and HHH deserved the extra care.. he is.. after all.. the son in law. i was really impressed by Umaga though.. but then again they compromised his menace by making him loose to cena one too many times. Daedalus
Wasn't umaga the dude who used to hang out with the hurricane?
Nemo
no. one of the 3 min warning crew. rosy and jamal. Rosy became S.H.I.T. (superhero in training) and jamal became umaga.

Man In The Box
Good to see the discussions going on here. Anyway, I watched Royal Rumble 2010 and was so damn disappointed. A poor rumble if you ask me, with the only highlight being CM Punk's speeches in between the match. I was watching Wrestlemania 19 again today and boy, it felt great. I still believe that was the best wrestlemania ever with matches like Rock v/s Austin, Jericho v/s HBK, Vince v/s Hogan and Angle v/s Lesner. The only hope for getting to see those matches again is in TNA right now with the amazing roster they have at present (Hogan, Angle, Sting, Styles, Daniels, Foley, Abyss, Jarret, Booker T, etc). As for WWE, well nobody really impresses me there anymore except for Randy Orton. He is one superstar who has the potential to carry the business on his shoulders with his great wrestling and mic skills. Other than him, no one really stands out for me. [Oh and btw, TNA now has a 4 sided ring ] Edited February 4, 2010 by Avishkar
Nemo
oh yes, WM 19 was the best wrestlemania imo as well. highlight being the angle vs lesner match. Brock's shooting star press Edited February 4, 2010 by Nemo
Man In The Box
+ 1 Also thought that the Y2J vs HBK match is right up there with the best matches of this decade. Edited February 4, 2010 by Avishkar
