Just now saw RAW... that triple threat match was epic! Cesaro and Rusev... amazing stuff :majesty:

We'll just have to see now how the diva's section heats up... or if it does at all!

So, at Battleground KO beats Cena and then KO vs Cesaro? I want either that or KO vs Rusev but Rusev will have his hands full if Ziggler returns after his beat down! Then again, Ziggler isn't going to return to RAW for a few weeks according to rumors.

Can't wait for a grand a*s kicking of Seth by Lesnar come Sunday at BG!! :punk:

tl;dr version: Just give it a try, it's a ONE hour tv show. You will not regret watching Lucha Underground, but give it a few episodes, don't judge it by the first one. There are alternatives to WWE and it's always nice to try something diffrent than their usual weekly f**kery.

Anyway Here are 15 reasons to check out Lucha Underground.

15. Lucha Libre Style

f5ea82557513911bde629d522d033d8b.jpg

Lucha Libre or “free wrestling” is typically what you will find inside Lucha Underground’s “Temple”. To use WWE as a comparison, just think of Neville, except it’s nearly the entire roster with their own set of unique moves. Luchadores like Fenix, Jack Evans, The Mack, Angelico, and Johnny Mundo (formerly known as John Morrison) are some of their finest high-flyers. Not only do these guys love flying through the air, but their move sequences tend to be at a faster tempo throughout their matches. Also, part of the fun is how hyped the live crowd gets when these wrestlers take flight.

14. Gimmick Matches Are Watchable

Here is a casket match between “The Man of 1,000 Lives” Fenix vs. “The Man of 1,000 Deaths” Mil Muertes. These two were embroiled in a bitter feud that led to a fantastic casket match, which is also a contender for “Match of the Year”. You will notice — unlike every other casket match — Fenix and Muertes use everything as a weapon against each other and completely ignore opening the casket until the proper time. This trend of quality gimmick matches continues on whether it’s a cage match (Mundo vs. Cuerno) or a 60-minute iron man match (Prince Puma vs. Mundo). It’s amazing what less rest holds and better ring psychology does for these types of matches.

13. Mil Muertes

b4d25a8dcbae262075219e4e38da740d.jpg

Speaking of “The Man of 1,000 Deaths” Mil Muertes is one of the biggest heels on the show. His imposing size and demeanor always makes for interesting TV, as he tears viciously into whoever is unlucky enough to fight him. Pulling the strings for Muertes is Catrina, a powerful woman that does whatever is necessary to get the win. For much of the season Muertes has feuded with Fenix, one of the youngest wrestlers on the roster. Their completely different styles have allowed them to put on some memorable encounters including a casket match and a deathmatch. He is very much a modern twist on The Undertaker, with the ability to return from the dark side, Mil is controlled by an “Earth Stone” that Catrina keeps in her possession.

12. Trios Teams

Unless The Shield or Wyatt Family was involved, 6-man tag matches in the WWE are usually either sloppy or very slow. That is not the case here with the incredibly fast-paced trios matches. ]One of the best parts to these matches is partners don’t actually need to be tagged in to be the legal wrestler. If a wrestler slides out — or is knocked out — of the ring one of their partners can jump right in and continue the action. Many of the teams that are put together tend to not even like each other, including the current champions: Son of Havoc, Ivelisse, and Angelico.

11. Women Wrestle Men

2b84d2567687c1957c59b626fd457e1a.jpg

In the Temple, women are just as tough and dangerous as the men. In particular, Sexy Star and Ivelisse find themselves in a match almost every week. Sexy Star is one of Lucha Underground’s biggest babyfaces. Her style is very similar to John Cena, always fighting for good. Ivelisse is not quite as honorable, she is a bit more on the dirty side and always seems to be yelling at anyone who is within range of her voice. Lucha Underground does not feature a women’s division, instead everyone is just thrown together to see who survives and can win the most money.

10. Musical Guests Fit The Show

Kid Ink, Flo-Rida, and Machine Gun Kelly have nothing on the weekly bands that rotate in and out of the show. The live band has their own perch high above the ring and play throughout the show. Most have a gritty, rock sound that just fits right in with the tone of the show. They only show up once or twice during the broadcast, but they just add to the chaos that surrounds them.

9. Pentagon Jr.

7f0869bdf5b4ce261f330f0083bf540c.jpg

Possibly the most insane character on the show. Pentagon Jr. constantly says everything he does is for “his master”. It has been months and his master has yet to show his face. Pentagon Jr. has been known to use a horrific arm breaker that puts his opponents out for weeks. He’s even gone after ring announcer Melissa Santos, lucky for her, Sexy Star made the save. At this point, Pentagon Jr. has made enemies with nearly everyone including color announcer, Vampiro. Like in the video, he lives by one motto: “Cero Miedo” or Zero Fear.

8. Ring Announcer: Melissa Santos

305c35c86561a710978605e4803e27bb.jpg

In only one season of work, Melissa may be one of the best ring announcers out there. She has a unique style of announcing that changes depending on who is coming out. If it’s a heel, her voice lowers and is slower. If it’s a face, she’s happy, almost joyous to announce the wrestler’s name. The camera always zooms in on her so we can catch any small details like a wink, or when she needed to bail out due to a wrestler (Texano) rushing the ring. She’s even been given some personality by getting small parts in feuds. As mentioned before, Pentagon Jr. attacked her out of nowhere and tried to break the innocent ring announcer’s arm. Since then she is always fearful of announcing his name, and backs away when he enters the ring. Ring announcers are typically forgotten roles, but not on this show.

7. Storyline Continuity

The writers do a fantastic job of tying up any loose ends with all of their wrestlers. Sometimes it might take weeks or months, but stories usually finish properly. For example, Chavo Guerrero Jr. faced off against Blue Demon Jr. in the very first episode. Soon after Blue Demon Jr. received a beat-down so bad that he disappeared for nearly the entire season. He could have easily been written off, but instead made his triumphant return to let Chavo know that his time is nearly up. It’s rare that stories just get simply dropped or that wrestlers heel/face alignment change without proper explanation.

6. Dario Cueto

3eb9d05b0867f05a833cfa0aa6b88f6b.jpg

This is the man that runs the insane asylum, and he absolutely loves his job. Unlike most promotions where the “authority figure” role is beyond stale, Dario is a breath of fresh evil air. Not only does he enjoy seeing violence — and doesn’t mind paying for it — he will screw over anyone that steps into his office. He is not simply a bad guy who hurts the good wrestlers. He’s a bad guy who will hurt anyone who doesn’t play ball, no matter how bad they are. When it comes to backstage segments, he steals the show.

5. Matt Striker And Vampiro

804e73cee8535ef9d11a4d257b371fb4.jpg

A majority of WWE’s announcers are so bad, it actually improves the product by muting it. That’s not the case with play-by-play and color announcers, Matt Striker and Vampiro. They have an easy going, but focused approach to calling the action. It’s almost like they are just sitting in their living room calling the action, but with plenty of passion and knowledge to back up their calls.

In addition to providing depth at the announcer table, Vampiro does backstage interviews, and although he has yet to actually wrestle, has found himself in the ring a time or two.

4. Gritty Style

There’s depth, grit, and just more of an adult tone to the entire show. This could be a bit much for younger kids, but for older audiences it’s the perfect mix of comedy, horror, and action. All the characters involved have somewhat of a shady side to them, even some of the faces have some strange attributes. The camera angles, lighting, music, and even the simple low bass sound effect that’s used throughout the show sets the tone in proper fashion.

3. Slow Burn Stories

If you are a fan of stories that take their time and play out at a slow pace, you’re in the right place. These are just a some examples of how they have extended very simplified stories. Aerostar took on Drago in a best-of-5 series with the winner receiving a “unique opportunity” from Dario Cueto. From start to finish this story easily took two months to complete. Another story is the seven medallions that are being given out one at a time to winners of specific matches. What they do exactly is not yet known. Finally, one of the longest running stories is Dario’s brother Matanza, who is currently being kept locked in a cage underneath the Temple. He seems to be not quite human, but the show has kept his identity secret this entire time.

2. Drago

4e86a417bb20309e3d6c003fd4ded47b.jpg

One of the most intriguing characters is Drago, who is part-man and part-dragon. Early on he had a fantastic best-of-5 series against Aerostar, that Drago eventually won. He received a chance at the title, but if he lost he would be banished from the Temple. Unfortunately, he was defeated and literally took flight away from the show for many weeks. Since then, he’s been fighting his way back winning and losing along the way. Aside from his story, his look is off the charts, complete with dragon armor, paint, and even a long strange looking black tongue.

1. Angelico’s Jump

During a trio match, this insane spot was done off of Dario Cueto’s office. High-flyer Angelico’s team was getting beat up badly and the only way they had a chance to win was for Angelico to take flight and knock out a few members of The Crew. Needless to say this is in the lead for “Spot of the Year” for its height and the guts it took to complete that jump. Simply stated: if that move doesn’t get you interested in Lucha Underground, hand in your wrestling fan card, and take up basket weaving.

I agree with all of them. Lucha Underground is freaking awesome. Makes TNA and WWE look like complete FAIL in comparison. Well currently WWE and TNA are FAIL but Lucha Underground makes them look even more FAIL.

Saw last week's TNA Impact. The 20 man Battle Royal could have been more fun IMO, so could the X-Division Championship match.

Really missed the Wolves in action... they just add so much to the show!

I want to see a hardcore street-fight match between Abyss and Brodus Clay (Tyrus)! :punk:

The internet is filled with hate for this week's Impact. It seems good that I skipped most of the matches this week. Taryn Terrell's loss was very anti-climatic. Bully Ray's return just felt bad because of his actions post Bound for Glory 2014. I don't want Dixie kissing his a*s after how he behaved when going out. And this whole situation with Hernandez is just inexcusable, and is going to affect TV for 3 more weeks, and has already affected TNA in a real way by MVP quitting. I am intrigued for what happens at the GFW tapings next week. I am hoping Jarrett has one last magic trick up his sleeves to save TNA.

Damn stupid PPV

Dead man will be literally dead if he goes on like this.

Couldn't even pick up Brock cleanly for the tombstone. Hands and legs trembling and him moving to almost the corner of the ring whilst just picking BORK LAZER. Retire already.

Lol can't believe that washed up has been superstar like Undertaker refusing to retire. Also far too many washed up never was guys like Kane, Big Show, Mark Henry, etc still hogging the limelight. Just please retire and give the new guys the time you're hogging. No one wants to see you anyway.

Also Jerry lawler, JBL, Cole please retire from announcing duties. Also John Cena just retire please if you're never going to put over any new talent.LOL Cena wins story everytime. Also all the WWE writers just retire please as some high school kids who are wwe fans could write better storylines. And finally Vince McMahon please retire as you are completely out of touch with what the people want and have no clue how to properly book matches and put new talent over.

Lel, just retire watching that sh*t and be done complaining about it.

I already have retired watching. I only watch some clips on YouTube and main event of ppv matches. I have however found Lucha underground and watch it every week because its an awesome wrestling show with great characters and storylines.I however being member of the IWC and a fan of the Attitude and Ruthless Agression era have the right to complain about the current WWE.

No, you only have that right if you watch. Or you can complain about the state of the WWE or its wrestlers when you stopped watching it or last watched it. Complaining without watching is bad. Writing opinion posts after reading a news or TV report is different from full-blown complaining.
