TheDribbler
Brotha....juz cudn't resist putting this after the experience !!! Killzone2 SP review (Brief) Jaws dropped in ’05 when the controversial trailer popped in….creating much twaddle about pre-rendered vs. in-game graphics …then came ’09 and Guerilla proved their claim with a hard hitting smack to its critics and even to ME….by delivering one of the BEST games ever to grace the playstation 3. Killzone 2 is one dirty mother of high adrenaline-pumped battles creamed with splendid visuals. You play as Sergeant Sevchenko, an ISA soldier assigned with annihilating the Helghast on their very own planet including the capture of their despotic, Machiavellian leader, Scolar Visari. You are accompanied in this battle with other computer controlled ISA squad members. That is all you can assume to the story overall. Get ready to witness some of the most intense gun battles ever seen. You will find yourself fighting your way through wastelands, shantytowns, factory, industrial urban sci-fi settings. Weather plays a deep seated role..with lighting storms raging overhead, wind movement as well as vicious dust storms. Carnage has never been this gorgeous. The game runs beautifully despite all the pandemonium happening at all times. Visually..this game is incredibly stunning. Killzone 2 is a game of strategy based on tactical decisions and vigilant aim. Don’t attempt to ape “Rambo” in this one...and go blazing with guns …unless u like to be framed on the wall as a Martyr! Correct use of cover and precise aiming is the right way to experience the brutal bloodbath. The helghast is one tough mofo force you will have to defend yourself against…and they are not only aggressive but merciless as well. You and your squad members will be flanked, melee attacked in addition to overpowering firepower they unleash via assault rifles, grenades, flame throwers, RPG’s etc . The enemy AI seen in this game is truly commendable, they will get you no matter where u run or hide. Battle defined on a new echelon. The game pace is fast..not a single dull moment… Dropping into a combat zone onboard an airborne APC you’ll be surrounded by explosions, gunfire, grenades and shrieks and that NEVER stops..You simply go and shoot and kill, man turrets/AA guns, drive tanks and hop and stomp around in mechs.. A particular level which has u taking the control of a mech, and barging your way through multitude of unwary Helghast soldiers & tanks is well crafted. Controlling the mech is simple as the normal controls are, with only the exception of firing missiles from it. Guerilla have worked well on the details…the glass cracked ridden pane in the mech as soon as you are hit……adds to the realism. Another level worth mentioning is of a ferocious battle aboard a moving train, the intensity in other words remains consistent throughout each stage very well executed. Also, throughout the game, the cut scenes transition seamlessly into gameplay also zings up the exhilaration. You have Boss encounters as well...which are not that tough to beat…at least till the last boss battle which requires you to plan and strategize in a proper manner. Again..tactical play works against all the bosses as well. You have bosses like the “big daddy” clone, ATAC drones, and the Final Boss. Don’t expect revival aid.. from your AI squad members. Though they assist you in battles...it will be you always reviving them..but unfortunately they do not return the favour and leave you for Dead. During the last boss battle..u will be running around more than a dozen time to save a squad member’s a*s…admist the continuous heavy shelling . The last level is a masterpiece in its own. The sound in the game is outstanding and extremely powerful. The full orchestral soundtrack will immerse you deep in the action. If you've got a home theater setup, you absolutely must experience the game on it. A game like this has to be played only on the Best audio/visual hardware. The game can be clocked within 8-10 hours + in single-player. It spans over 10 unique levels and each is a magnum opus. Difficulty levels range from easy (Recruit), to hard (Veteran), with normal (Trooper). The Elite level range is unlocked on completion of the game on any of the other level mentioned. Trust..me…even the easy level can be merciless on you as the orange eyed foes have a powerful AI. KZ 2 has action that you will cherish for a long long time !!! Guerilla have delivered !!!! - By yours truly !!!
