Killzone 2 documentary, part one

killzone2documentaryscreencap1200209580.jpg

SCEE has released (via ThreeSpeech) the first part of a behind-the-scenes Killzone 2 documentary, which focuses on the atmosphere of Helghan and player-immersion. Various members of the development team, Guerrilla Games, are seen describing the game while apparently in Helghan -- some classy special effects guys! There's also plenty of gameplay and cutscene footage without their ugly mugs transposed over top.

Dont miss the video at Source

Find the first video after the break. The second part will be released on Monday.

Killzone 2 Multiplayer Better Than Halo 3?

Most of us have delivered their verdict on Killzone 2, with seemingly positive reviews the game seems to be on the desired track for its 27th February release. We finally got the option of trying our hands on the multiplayer component for a couple of hours and found it much more robust and more challenging than Halo 3’s multiplayer component, which seemed to lag behind quite a bit when it came up against the diverse options that Killzone 2 laid out in front of our plate. (Check Out Our Single Player Review)

Killzone 2’s multiplayer may not reek of originality but it sure takes ideas from every other king to give a rather spiced up notion of multiplayer which is fast and intense. The game on the average has a much better level design than most multiplayer shooters, the environments are large and cramped at the same time, at any given point in time the game focuses on a team based combat frontier. No where along the line of fire are you assumed to fend the ground on your own, the environments have been designed such that players are often tempted to scattered across a certain central segment in the map, where most of your combat takes place. There were also arenas where flanking seemed the primary objective of both teams with sufficient paths rallied across the map that relied on both offensive and defensive techniques.

Squads are of primary importance in the game, each player starts out on the lower rung of his squad and as he earns badges through the course of the battles he gets promoted and gets access to better equipment that enable him to advance more effectively against his enemy. Think of the counter Strike system of earning money to purchase weapon upgrades and forth.

There is also a healthy offline mode for individuals who buy into the notion of games primarily being asocial in nature, 15 bots assist the player in launching a full fledged assault against the opponent, and this feature comes as a part of the story since it established 7-8 objectives simultaneously in a singular map. The arming/disarming explosives at key places across the map feels natural and combat intensive since your team is huddled across a few key locations where maximum fire power is being concentrated. The game’s artificial intelligence at higher levels fill in remarkably for your human opponent with timed shots, cleverly cloaking options, and hiding at spots where you least expect them to sprout up and shoot.

The overall experience across eight maps proved to be rather exhilarating and memorable, there often were moments when two snipers were locked in combat with each other high above, while a battle of blood and guts raged at the ground below. Our only wish to Guerilla Games is incorporating a recording feature, for players to showcase the passionate kills across the game. When a couple of Halo 3 regulars came back to their game, they found a lot of the combat on the sluggish side, the original Halo might have held the crown of being the king of online multiplayer in the consoles but with Killzone 2 its hard to brush away such blood curdling moments out of our heads.

And just for the record we are not anti-Xbox guys, infact we love playing Left 4 dead, Call of Duty 4 and World at War on the Xbox 360. Killzone 2 just seemed to offer a lot of things in one plate which is what made the playthrough so engrossing and compelling.

i played the demo quite a bit now and i noticed that the Melee attack is kinda un-impressive... i really loved the 'slash' of COD4 and COD:WaW... it actually makes u feel good that u killed somebody upclose and personal

is it different in the full game ?
