Harsahil
^^^ok.. btw did u read my UPS specifications? do u think it can be used for PS3? i dont knw abt wattage but the guy who gave me told that i can use it just for PS3 i.e. shouldnt run PC or TV parallel to it while using it for PS3. Falcon
interesting thread. Plannin to buy a UPS now. I think we can atleast connect a LCD to the UPS along with the PS3. LCD takes in very less power unlike SD tv
playstation
^^^ok.. btw did u read my UPS specifications? do u think it can be used for PS3? i dont knw abt wattage but the guy who gave me told that i can use it just for PS3 i.e. shouldnt run PC or TV parallel to it while using it for PS3. my ups power handling capacity is 500Va but apc does have 650va ups for Rs2800. my ups can easily support Sd tv and ps3 on its battery backup output for enough time to switch off both. ЯeVeЯse
Bit late to post here, but I'd say do it. I have my Xbox 360 connected to a UPS too.  I have frequent power cuts here, unfortunately. So it's a good idea if that's the case with you too.
Harsahil
yea its the same case with me too... fking powercut for atleast 10hrs everyday
reaper
i have connected my PS3, 360 and my PC to a numeric digital 600 plus 360 watts UPS. No problems till date. I take care to switch on only one device at a time though .. this gives me more than enough time to switch off my console / PC in case of a powercut. Grimmjow
I used an APC 650VA for my PC+PS3, the monitor is connected to an inverter slot so if im running only PS3, i get 25 mins or so
DarthVader
i've connected my ps3 to emerge 500 ups.the lcd tv runs on mains directly since v don't have power cuts but sometimes there is a one minute blackout
sam_816
v don't have power cuts but sometimes there is a one minute blackout same here, my ps3 had got switched off 2-3 times in the past.. but no data corruption so far... i dnt like the idea of connecting the ps3 to UPS though.. i've read smwhere that the PS3 should get AC current(pure sinewave) which most ups r unable to.. if the input current is not right it increases the heating up of MoBo n eventually bake the circuits.. don't know how much is true but i am afraid to use the ups.. sam_816
How come u guys dont get power cuts in Dwarka after all its north India welll, my society has a full power backup, the gensets run as soon as power cut is there. usually its just a flicker when power source is changed but a few times the power goes fr a few seconds n that time all equipments stop(including my PS3)

saberwing
welll, my society has a full power backup, the gensets run as soon as power cut is there. usually its just a flicker when power source is changed but a few times the power goes fr a few seconds n that time all equipments stop(including my PS3) Â As far as I know gensets dont produce pure sine wave voltages either so you're running the same risk as someone using a UPS. sam_816
As far as I know gensets dont produce pure sine wave voltages either so you're running the same risk as someone using a UPS. well u can easily check if the current is AC or DC by the sound of a fan at slow speed(it'll hum wen on DC) my society has that room size gensets n dnt make my fans or other electric appliance make a strange noise.. so i am assuming it as safe..(fingers crossed) U are an IITian saber, correct me if i am wrong, but there are 3 phase (star/delta) gensets as well.. for proper 3 phase output. BTW the pure sine wave gensets do exist...
DarthVader
its wierd if square wave causes ps3 mobos to heat up..why doesnt the same happen to PC's ?
Harsahil
hey guys confirm one thing, is the problem only when running battery backup or also when we use PS3 normally on ups with power supply on? cos if latter is the case, then my PS3 also works for 1-2mins on UPS just like nish_higher and so i should be safe too. no?
