Dr.Hojay
ups definitely the way to go ! pick up something more than 600w though for the ps3 ...so that if the power cuts there's enough time for the ps3 to finish the software update .. Korn_668
Newb question: how the hell do you connect it to a UPS? And what brand is suggested? THe first thing I ordered alongside my PS3 was a UPS... There are many out there with varying watts etc and other specifications... I got APC 500W Its got coverage for Max battery output, surge protection and battery and surge both. There are higher watts ones available....only if you need to protect your PS3 and LCD tv through one UPS.... I just bought it for my PS3 THis company's UPS is also recommended for PS3...i read it through many international forums on which is the best UPS for PS3 So i bought it.....and i got two of my friends one too......they have never looked back

bips3421
I'hv hooked up my PS3 to a 500VA UPS, but have a problem now. When power goes off, it works fine but as soon as generator is turned on (usually within 1 min) my UPS lets off a shrilling noise and goes into red mode, switching off the PS3. Don't know why.. anyone ? Also how long can a 500VA UPS handle PS3 power need ?

PS3 getting switched off by UPS means the UPS not able to handle the load when the generator comes online...which company UPS are you using? dont know about the time...but should be around 15 -20 mins depending on what brand you bought...at the least case...it should give you enough time to switch the PS3 off

Hopefully i get enough time during an upgrade! if ever there is a power failure. If the PS3 is switched off during upgrade i understand that only option is replacement ? blackheart2925
download the FW upgrade on your comp and put in a USB stick for transferring to the console. The USB drive needs to be formatted to FAT32 and the update should be in the following folder structure "PS3>UPDATE>xxx.PUP" for the PS3 to see it. that way only time taken is for the installation I dont know if it will require replacement as it has'nt happened to me till now...but yes i think so.
