bharaths
Its highly recommended for the areas where power cut is frequent. Otherwise no need of UPS.

The JACKAL
Im not sure about a UPS, but i read in the ps3 manual that connecting the ps3 power supply cable to a extension cord, voltage stablizer etc isnt safe and not recomended
Somebody
^^ but doesn't a 220v to 110v converter act as a stabilizer too ?? in that case, I've been using one since I bought the PS3 and never had any probs

Death Stryke
^Lol, its okay. No harm in connecting it to a extension cord or a SD convertor. UPS I heard it should not be a pure sine wave UPS. That affects the ps3. Or is it the other way round. Something does
Shantz
^^ yeah UPS has to be pure sine wave (or closest)..anyways, most UPS give a direct supply when electricity is there, so just try to switch off everything as soon as power goes.. BTW, DS were you able to make your UPS work with PS3 with the workaround I posted?

Actually I returned the UPS to the shop ..Will try it out. Basically u r saying that load the UPS up with the ps3, lcd etc and it will work? I connected my LCD and ps3 and it still switched off. No idea. Now i've connected it to an extension cord. Though cuts are rare my side of town <touchwood>

Saale, i told you to charge fully didn't i? When the power goes off there will be a surge of power drawn from the battery for a second. So you need your battery level to be above 70%

Buzz
Sorry for bumping an old thread. But I am having problems with my UPS. I have a 600VA Intex UPS, I have only connected my PS3 with it. But whenever the power goes, PS3 shuts down. After that I am able to do a cold start of my PS3 but it's real purpose is lost. Due to this I have lost my GT5 save files Please halp
Shantz
^^ This might be because of the slow switchover time of the UPS. You can't really do anything about it. If it is in warranty, then complain to them that switchover is slow and hope they are able to do something. PS3 power supply somehow expects a much faster switchover than a PC power supply.
