If it is out of warranty (seems your case), then they will offer to take it and sell you a new PS3 at 50% discount. I suggest you go to the grey market just to get an estimate of how much it will cost (depends on what's wrong with your unit). Then compare that price with half the price of a new PS3. I guess the 50% thing will work out better because you get a brand new console + warranty for the same. @Mods : Please move this to the Techzone section or merge with the PS3 warranty thread.
