Yep.

Its still Valve though and whatever they do end up shipping will be a solid game for sure.

But this is starting to feel purposeless and direction less. Its not a sequel. Not a spin off. Not a remake. It feels like a mod. Not really sure where they are going with this.

I personally like Source over 1.6 . I played both at around the same time, so definitely wasn't biased toward either version. If you see globally, # of Source servers > those of 1.6

But even I'm not sure where Valve is going with this one.

courtesy of CounterStrikeGo :

Matchmaking system for teams and individuals (with Elo rating system)

Focus on competitive 5v5 play and eSports

Ranked servers run by Valve (Competitive mode only)

Dedicated servers run by players (Casual mode only)

LAN support confirmed

Ranked / Ladder play for both individuals and 5 man teams (Competitive mode)

Bullet penetration through some walls / materials / objects

Classic CS gameplay – no ironsights

Competitive and Casual modes

Gameplay derived from both CS 1.6 and CS: Source with new twist

Weapons have been rebalanced to make weapon selection more interesting (so that players use more than the typical AK, M4, AWP, and Desert Eagle)

Beta is on PC only, starts in October as a closed beta

Defuse and Hostage maps

Molotov grenades: create a pool of fire on the ground which slows movement speed of players crossing it and causes area of effect damage

Decoy grenades: emit fake weapon firing sounds to confuse enemies about your team’s position

New money system / weapon and equipment prices

Kevlar and helmet cannot be purchased, are given at beginning of every round like ammo

Ammo doesn’t need to be bought (like CS:S)

SourceTV not currently a priority

Forced DirectX 9 for everybody (for balance); DX10+ not supported

Flashbangs behave like in 1.6 – if you face away, you aren’t blinded for very long

Classic weapons return, but have been changed / rebalanced

New shotgun

New taser melee weapon – one use only, one hit kill

New heavy machine gun rifle

New pistols

Models and hitbox sizes slighty reduced from CS: Source

Cross-platform play confirmed between PC, Mac, and PS3 players

Valve wants 360 players to also get Steamworks / cross-platform support, but Microsoft doesn’t allow it

Playstation 3 version can be controlled with a PS3 controller, USB mouse and keyboard, or PS Move motion controller

Confirmed Maps

de_dust2

de_dust – layout significantly changed (new paths)

de_aztec – minor changes to layout

de_nuke – some layout changes

de_inferno – some layout changes

de_train – only has one bomb site now

same feeling here. not really sure why this game needs to exist at all.

still waiting for the dota 2 beta that was supposed to start in a couple of weeks after gamescom <_<. valve time means this one won't happen till next year.

i understand they are trying to shake things up by why do they need to mess with the core formula that has made counter strike one of the most popular shooters in the history of gaming? same goes for maps, these are bloody classics they are messing around with.

I see CS purely as a move to justify the need of Steam on PS3. If it works well they will use it as a leverage to push MS. Either way it will promote use of steam on PS3.

Excuse me if im not well aware with the developments but there is no standalone steam client for PS3 in development neither there is any other game which will be bundling it. So at this point if you are done with p2 co-op, you really dont have any reason hobnobbing with your steam friends you added on PS3.

Bigger picture : With CS they could show that steam could be helpful in keeping games fresh for long time, add to that cross-play which finds many buyers in todays social and connected world. In fact to me it seems shipping CS only with the classic maps is a part of the plan :|

Valve Announces Arsenal Mode For Counter Strike:GO

csgo_shoots_03-620x348.jpg

Valve has just announced that Counter Strike: Global Offensive will be getting a new mode when the game launches next year. "Arsenal Mode" is based on the popular Counter-Strike: Source mod called Gun Game. Arsenal: Arms Race & Arsenal: Demolition will "add eight new maps and expand on the classic Counter Strike gameplay."

Valve which just recently unveiled Counter Strike: Global Offensive to the world at PAX Prime, has been pretty open about their intentions to bring all Counter Strike gamers under one umbrella with the franchise face-lift.
