Kaio Posted August 18, 2011 Report Share Posted August 18, 2011 I own a 32 inch Bravia LCD TV. PS3 hooked up to it via an HDMI cable. The XMB is displayed in full HD 1080p. Even Blu-rays are displayed at full HD 1080p. But the games are displayed at only 720p even if they support higher resolutions. Can anyone tell me how i can obtain a full HD resolution??? Big Boss Posted August 18, 2011 Report Share Posted August 18, 2011 Try unchecking the 720p option in your PS3 settings. Then run the game. It will run at 1080p if it supports, or else it will just drop down to 576p. Some games which support 1080p and 720p both might run at 720p. For example the recently released SC Chaos Theory runs at 720p even though it supports 1080p. You have to uncheck 720p to make it run at 1080p. Anyways which games are you trying to run in full HD? Generally they run at 1080p if the monitor/tv is full HD, else one should deselect 720p and 1080i in the Display Settings in the XMB, then force the game to run 1080p. You were the one who started guessing: I guess ps3 runs the games at 720p And I said that there are many games that can run at 1080p, irrespective of their native resolution. Few examples are Midnigh Club LA, GTA 4, AC B etc etc. These are all 720p or even sub HD games, but they can run at 1080p via upscaling. So, stop guessing in your dreams and welcome to real world.
