Ok so far it is:-

PS3:-Pop the disc in,update the game(10 mins),start playing online

Xbox:-Pop the disc in,buy a months subscription(300+,even if you want to play for 2 hrs.),call the customer support to turn auto renewal, testify u'r detail so that they know it's really your A/c,start playing online

(hypothetically there can be an update for u'r xbox game too)

Lol jokes apart

Pls don't tell me that they can't implement on this:-

Putting it that way, you make it looks like xbl is some huge failure. lol

12months gold card=Rs 3400

3400/365= rs 9/day

9/24= rs 0.38/hour

Now think of how many codes they will have to generate for 38paisa for each and every person who will come up and ask for a 1hr or 2hrs xbl code??

And wisely thinking, having to pay for one months, even if u goin to play 2hrs each day is a better decision, as u get to play when u want it and at least u wont be stopped right in the middle of ur gaming session due to the expiry of ur hour.

And personally, having to pay yearly membership suits me better, i used to play heavily on xbl, and also chat with friends while we playin different games n all. And all that for countless hours.

And yeah, there are 24h and 48 xbl free trial codes availables too.. Dunno if they are actually retailed, but they exist :)

^^i don't think you got my point bro

what i'm saying is that instead of paying for running time(eg. 1month)

we get to pay in playing time(eg. xyz no. of hrs)

but anyway it's a pointless discussion & is not going to happen as the gamers will be paying less & company will be earning less

 to that idea, thought of it, but it wont b profitable to the company so... :)

This i agree

but the difference is marginal

it took me 4 days to dload infamous2(15gb) & around 1.5 to dload AC:B(7 gb)

This a very hypothetical point, even live went down for weeks in 2007 & 2008

The updates take aprox. the same time to be dloaded & installed on both systems

The frequency varies from time to time,on both systems

& now since you guyz bringing this hypothetical points let me share a valid one

I have no problem paying for live,it's the way they make you pay that is frustrating

as i said being an average online player,i go weeks even months without playing online

but if i do want to play some day,i have to pay(as i said is not a problem)

i have to pay atleast for a months live service, even if i want to play for those limitet hrs only!!!

and even if i buy it for a month they put you on auto renewal for some insane reason, which requires me to call them each time to put it off!!

i mean WTF!!! just coz you have my CC details doesn't mean you'll keep swiping it without my consent

My ps3 was dead & i wanted to dload Duke nukem Forever demo, what do i have to do???

pay for a months subscription to download a freaking demo!!! which is lying free on another service

If they were so consumer friendly they would have started an hrs. based service, purchase no. of hrs you want to play & it expires when you'v finished your purchased time

You dont need to pay to download Demos

Always happens in XBL/PSN thread, you just forgot to compare it to daily cigarette expenditure :P

Lets spin it anti-clockwise just for fun. Suppose you buy a 360 for 21k, then pay 3.4k per years for Live sub for next six years till the next Xbox comes along. So at the end of the generation you effectively end up paying equivalent to two consoles to MS for a service thats free on all the other platforms. When you buy one MS console, they charge you for two in the long run. Think about it..

If you did not know , if you dload via PS3 directly , the updates are incremental now , so mostly they are 20 MB or such , takes 15 mins MAX

I have updated Ruzhan's PS3 4-5 times , I didnt find any update lesser than 150MB.

He did 3.70 on his own

@Ank,did u forget the fact that PSN was hacked four months ago?PSN also has the problem of frequent firmware updates.

Xbl was hacked twice in past...what's your point?

FW upgrade is an issue with PS3's architecture, in the past if there was an update then it wasnt incremental no matter how small the change it...blaming this on a service like PSN is stupid and it's even more stupid to assume that you have incremental updates on Live cause you pay for it and hence it gives better service...it's just how the OS worked. Now however things are different as PS3 allows incremental FW updates and downloads are mostly in the region of 20-40MB. As for Live giving more speed than PSN, you gotta be sh*ting me, it entirely depends on your ISP (and your router/modem settings).. PSN gives me the same speed as Live here in UK, when I was in India and used airtel I used to get slightly better speed on PSN, when I used BSNL I used to get slightly better speed on Live. Its stupid to make a conclusion that since you pay for Live it automatically becomes superior in every aspect no matter what the actual working is.

Another thing to remember is Live's policy with game updates, mandatory updates are limited to around 10 MB, anything extra and it HAS to be optionally available in the marketplace, this may sound great but it's a PITA when devs want to do massive updates which are larger in size. this is one of the reason why you will NEVER see an update like MAG 2.0 on Live.

If anyone here on IVG owning a PS3 is ready to back this statement(except Zodak)

i'll gladly except that Ps3 is a fail machine

I have a 2Mbps cönn.

It's just their servers suck .

If u dnt believe me ask Ruz .

And then I am not even taking game updates in to consideration .

GT5 got total updates of around 2 GB .

One update was 1.07 I think was 678MB .

While on Xbox 360 game updates are mostly 4MB .

In 2007,XBL wasnt hacked. It was just intermittently down due to high network traffic. On the other hand,PSN was hacked.

Still the problem lasted for a couple of weeks.

One would think that for a paid service traffic problems would be the last of the issues, with PSN there was nothing they could do against the hackers as it isn't the same kind of problem. In any case security issues exist in both service (game hackers).

And BFBC2 adds new maps in a 1.5 GB update on the 360 too. Developers are always free to add content they want in via paid/free DLC thats always optional for the user to get.

The point that you missed is that limiting title updates to a small size means you can be up and playing in a matter of minutes. If I just put in BC2 today and dont want to play on the free DLC maps I dont have to sit around waiting to download 1.5GB update just so that I can sign in and play online. I can just download the 4 MB update and play.
