New 250 GB Xbox 360 bundle revealed for Canada

Something is digital doesn't mean that it would be compatible on next-gen hw too. Because I'm having a feeling that you assume it to be that way.

You are assuming that the architecture changes in next-gen hw will still allow to play games you bought digitally 10 yrs back, no sir it may not.

May be due to issue with architecture, general compatibility issues, cost overheads, it wouldn't be possible to maintain BC on long run, doesn't matter you bought them digitally or retail.

xbox og compatibility isn't built only on the side of system, games need to be patched too. So you basically need a back-end team which keep making these patches for the compatibility issues, something which wouldn't be possible for long run cuz either it has to be done at console manufactures end or on the developer side, it will just add up overheads and no real value to those companies.

Coming back to connection thing, I too have 10MBPS conn, has a FUP of...wait for it...30GB. :suicide:

But I never feel comfortable downloading more than 5GB on my PC (even that I do very very rarely) 1-1.5GB on consoles, on PS3 I avoid downloading completely.

and bhai "...." kam use kiya kar, padhane mein bahot dikkat hota hai.

arey bhai "...." yeh mera style hai. anyways tera liya ,first of all i never said next gen will sure be compatible but if it does it be a smart move, also let me tell you a digital copy does give much option than physical copy , Physical copy will deteriorate but digital copy will never. It is yours forever. Another Plus Point is you can literally stop worrying abt moving to another place and having to carry so many games with you. It is a Globalized world now,People are shifting from one country to another or from one city to another within the country .

You completely missed my point . I just said digital copy is smart move in the long run.

Ps, so you think that carrying a few cds is more cumbersome than downloading gbs of data?

Let's say you download a game, play it and delete it off after some time, after 6 months you want to play it again, for short burst, wouldn't you wish that you just had a retail disk?

few cds?? :O even a casual gamer these days has atleast 20-30 games easily ....a hardcore collector would have easily abt 100 games or close to it...

but having said that i agree that is certain cumbersome of downloading gbs too....but digital is the future you cannot deny it .....and basically by going digital now you are trying to make one time investment in a way...wether tomorrow hardware support it or not....and also the connection downloading is here a problem not in western countries ....they already have blazing fast connection and no limit also.....with internet connection increasing at so faster rate....downloading even ps3 games would be abt 1 hr at most...

just to add; i prefer physical copies...since i am always of the viewpoint that digital copies shud come considerably cheaper; while they don't. I really hated paying $60 for my steam copy of black ops last year; and now that i dont even play the game anymore; i dont know what to do with it..... even if it was $50 (since maintaining CDNs has its own fair share of costs) i could have understood; but same price as the physical copy is :nono:

Ya, but do you carry around 100 games when you go on trips?

OK let me get more clear over here.

Retail copies

Insta-play any time, anywhere, as long as your physical copy is in your reach

As long as you have the system(xbox, psp etc) its developed for and the game, you can play it

Can be sold once you are done with the game, make fortune if the game is rare

You lose the disk or put a crack through it, you are done

Digital copies

As long as you have the system(xbox, psp etc) its developed for and the game on the HDD, you can use it

Download the copy if you have deleted from HDD, bummer if you are stuck in a place with no/slow connectivity

Pray that the owner of content delivery platform keeps supporting the old hardware, or migrate all the old games when they switch to new one.

Games too go offline once they stop generating revenues and there goes your copy

No resale value

Get free guilty feeling when games go on sale for as low as 33% because they can, feel free to slit your wrists if you bought it for full price just a week back.

No sense of ownership, no "new" smell

And top of all

How can you replace this

With this?

But even with my obvious dislike about digital, I feel that both system should co-exist. So...I go buy a game in retail, put it in console, enter a unique CD-key supplied with the game, it connects to server and then authorizes me to avail a digital copy, which I can download and dump on my HDD if I want. Everyone is happy.

...and even the publisher is happy that they have found one more way to kill the second-hand sales.
