Best UPS for PS3 320GB?

Guys,

Couple of questions:

1. Read somewhere that we shouldn't use a UPS with a PS3. Is that true?

2. If I have to use a UPS, what's the best one for a PS3?

3. Do I need the TV also connected to the UPS to be able to switch the PS3 off? (I'm not looking at playing using the UPS, just need enough power to switch the system off.)

Thanks!

!. No, you can use a UPS/Inverter which gives pure Sine-Wave output. Any other ups please avoid.

2.I recommend Sukam or APC ups.

3.No need to connect the TV to your ups. But you can if you want to protect your TV too, but for that you have to buy a higher capacity ups.

Please call Sukam or APC, their representative will give you appropriate tips and also their product info.

Thanks! I called Sony Center, and they said a normal UPS will be fine. I'm planning to buy APC 600 VA UPS. Hope that'll be OK.

Yeah it'll work

I went and got an APC Back UPS 650 VA for around 3K from Computer Warehouse, because the engineer there said the 600VA won't work with the generator installed in my apartment. After getting home, when I checked the manual, it says that the output is step approxomated sine waveform, which I'm assuming is different from the pure wave sine form you mentioned. Is this going to be a problem? :(

Anybody else on this forum using an APC Back UPS 650 VA with their PS3? Does it work fine when the power goes? All I need is enough backup so that I can shut down the system...

i use a microtek ups - it doesnt say what kind of sine wave output it has but says that the transfer time is less than 6ms - it works great no problems so far.

Thanks for your response. Is this an expensive model, or is it a standard price (around 3K or less?). Apparently the pure sine wave models are much more expensive. So if you tell me the price I can determine whether it's normal or pure sine wave. Thanks for your time.

Looks like this must be the model. http://www.helpingindia.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=163

It doesn't say anything about pure sine wave output, so looks like I'm safe as of now.

Waiting for the power to go once to see if anything unexpected happens :)
