I haven't unlocked much as Recon, but I'm looking for a sniper rifle that will provide significant suppression and damage per shot, single headshot kill and rapid follow ups (straight pull bolt is also fine). I never use rocket pods for air vehicles Canon is the best to counter those... My main targets were all road vehicles n choppers .... whenever I used to attack jets it just gets disabled enemy jumps so I just keep dodging them they die on their own ....... In bf3 all sniper files give u one shot one kill only for headshots even in close m98b gives maximum (95) damage so in any case u'll have to pull out your side arm if u didn't get a headshot.... but I personally recommend sv98 just cozof the faster reload.
