Sony is continuing to take the initiative to bolster its PlayStation Network following the disastrous hack earlier this year. Not only did Sony add another $20 million this summer to a Pub Fund it started a couple years ago, but today the company announced a new "Only On PlayStation Network" program to stress its flow of exclusive gaming content.

Starting on October 4, every Tuesday in the month will see several new exclusives on PSN, including Pub Fund titles like Eufloria and Okabu, as well as inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood and PixelJunk Sidescroller. And the program will also feature a selection of "rare classic games" added to the store on October 4, including God Hand, GrimGrimoire, Maximo: Ghosts to Glory, Odin Sphere and Ring of Red.

Consumers who are PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive a 20% discount during the launch week of each “Only On PSN” game. On top of that, if you spend $60 or more out of your PlayStation Network/Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) Wallet throughout the month of October, you'll be able to receive a $10 store credit towards purchases in November. This promotion isn't limited to just games - spending can be on add-ons, PlayStation Home micro-transactions, TV shows, movies, Music Unlimited subscriptions, etc.

“‘Only On PlayStation Network’ is our line of great exclusive games that users can count on to deliver exciting game experiences that can’t be found anywhere else,” said Susan Panico, senior director of PlayStation Network, SCEA. “This strong initial content offering, combined with the day one discounts for PlayStation Plus subscribers and the ‘Spend $60, Get $10 Back’ promotion, makes PlayStation Network the premier destination for digital content.”

The lineup in the program is as follows: October 4 - Eufloria and Rochard; October 11 - Sideway: New York; October 13 - Sodium Collection; October 18 - Okabu and RocketBirds; October 25 - inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood and PixelJunk Sidescroller.

IndustryGamers spoke with Susan Panico about the program and Sony's continued push for exclusives. We'll be bringing you that soon.

Sony announces PSN exclusives campaign

Sony has announced Only On PSN, a new campaign to promote PlayStation Network exclusive games throughout October.

At least one exclusive PSN title will be released each week throughout the month, starting this Wednesday with Rochard.

In the US, the confirmed line-up is Eufloria and Rochard for this week and Sideway: New York for next.

Charming cel-shaded Okabu and Rocketbirds arrive the week after, with standalone vampire expansion inFamous 2: Festival of Blood and PixelJunk Sidescroller rounding out the month.

Finally, this week will also see a selection of "rare classic" PlayStation 2 titles made available to download: God Hand, GrimGrimoire, Maximo: Ghosts to Glory, Odin Sphere and Ring of Red. Will Sony now bring PS2 games to PS3 games on a regular basis? :panic:

PSN Plus members receive a 20 per cent discount on each Only On PSN title the week it's released.

Meanwhile, gamers who spend more than $60 on any PlayStation Network content - games, themes, movies, whatever - get a $10 credit towards their November shopping. European discounts are still to be confirmed.

Only On PSN follows this summer's PlayStation Network Play campaign - Sony's first real attempt at rivalling the Xbox 360's Summer of Arcade.

PSN Play featured titles such as Renegade Ops and The Baconing, although unlike the XBLA Summer of Arcade, none were platform exclusives.

That's because Microsoft won't ship Xbox Live Arcade games unless they are released at least simultaneously with competing platforms, European Xbox boss Chris Lewis previously confirmed to Eurogamer.

Many of the titles featured were funded in-part by Sony through the Publisher Fund it created a couple of years ago. This summer saw the platform giant add $20 million extra cash to the Pub Fund pot.

"Rare" PS2 Games Coming to the PlayStation Network [update]

I've been dreaming for a while now of picking up a PS2 game I already own, putting it in my PS3 and having it work. Ever since my launch console died that's been totally out of the question, so I guess I'll have to settle for the next best thing.

Sony has launched a new campaign called Only On PSN, which is looking to tout games exclusive to the PS3's online network. Featuring are indie games, Move games and, quietly, PS2 games as well.

Listed as "rare classic games", the initial selection, due for rollout in October, is certainly promising, as it not only includes gorgeous side-scroller Odin Sphere, but Capcom's brutal (and misunderstood) brawler God Hand as well.

Those two, along with GrimGrimoire, Maximo: Ghosts to Glory, and Ring of Red, will be available on October 4, with Sony promising the first Tuesday of every month will bring more.

UPDATE - The Only On PSN campaign has been revealed as a US-only affair. Not to worry, as Sony tells Eurogamer that most of the content, including the PS2 games, will still make their way to Europe as well.

God Hand came on PS2 only. One of the most underrated games of last gen. I still cant believe they are releasing a PS2 game on PSN. How can they achieve BC via software? Or is it a HD port?

Not only it was underrated, most of the people dont even know about it. It was published by crapcom but was made by some studio which got closed down immediately after this game was released. However, it is an excellent action melee combat game. Though it lacks polishing but action is awesome..

It will be interesting to see how this game is released on PSN, since it is a PS2 exclusive. I also doubt it will be HDed.. but again.. how it is going to be released if it is not HDed...????

THIS WEEK THIS BLOODY WEEK. Time to buy a USD PSN Card. Can anyone confirm if I buy a US PSN game and download it, can I play it on my Indian PSN account on same PS3? I think I can, 90% sure.
