I've been using the download manager for quite some time now. The PS3 sometimes cannot connect and i usually just setup the whole connection again. But now that step if not helping me fix the problem. Whenever i connect after entering my IP Address and stating port no. as 27, it says "Obtaining IP - successful; Internet Connection - failed". Can someone please help me!?

The following is the setup that I use make sure your ps3's network settings are the same:

My laptop IP address: 192.168.0.1

Goto network connections-> settings-> wired connection-> manual settings

keep everything at the default level until you reach the ip address config

There, give the following values:

IP address: 192.168.0.2

Gateway address: 255.255.255.0

DNS address:192.168.0.1

There is another address in there that you need to put, but I forgot its name, give that address also as 192.168.0.1

Now, hit right arrow -> use proxy server-> IP address= 192.168.0.1, Port-> 27

Mine doesnt connect to the internet through the connection settings either. Ignore the message, and goto playstation network directly and sign in. If you have keyed in all the values properly, it should work for you. For me, the connection settings internet connectivity test never worked. I always sign in directly through the PSN xMB option, and it simply works.

I have a network bridge on the laptop. I choose my LAN port on it and choose "Add to network bridge". only then does this work. Also make sure to share your internet connection on your PC.

Hope this helps!

Im using a wireless connection. Im not talking about the connection test where it says connection test failed and the internet speeds are displayed as null. Im talking about the initial test when its checking for any connection available after tracking the ip address..
